The Role

We're searching for a skilled and experienced Backend Engineer to join our growing team. You'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable hosted and serverless backend systems that power our applications. You'll collaborate closely with front-end engineers, product managers, and DevOps professionals to deliver exceptional user experiences.


Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement efficient and maintainable backend APIs

• Translate user stories and technical requirements into clean, well-structured, and secure backend code

• Build and maintain highly scalable and performant backend systems

• Utilize a combination of hosted and serverless technologies (AWS Lambda/ Google Cloud Functions, etc.) to optimize resource utilization

• Implement strong authentication and authorization mechanisms

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using modern programming languages and frameworks

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions

• Unit test and integrate test your code to ensure quality and stability

• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in backend technologies and cloud platforms


Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience working as a Backend Engineer

• Strong proficiency in a modern backend programming language (Python/ Java/ Node.js etc.)

• Solid understanding of backend development principles (RESTful APIs, database design, etc.)

• Experience with relational databases (MySQL/ PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB/ Cassandra)

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/ Google Cloud Platform/ Azure) is a must

• Fluency in hosted and serverless technologies (AWS Lambda/ Google Cloud Functions, etc.)


Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information science, or similar

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team


Additional qualifications that would be beneficial

• Experience with API gateways and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Experience with ORMs (TypeORM, Prisma, Sequelize)

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines

• Exposure to front-end development
