Technical Writer Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Writer with the ability to create high-quality documentation and visually appealing diagrams. The ideal candidate will have strong technical writing skills, the ability to simplify complex concepts, and the expertise to create flowcharts, network diagrams, and technical illustrations. You will work closely with product developers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure that technical documentation is clear, accurate, and visually engaging. Key Responsibilities: Create Clear Technical Documentation: Write and maintain user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, how-to guides, and product release notes. Diagram Creation: Use tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or similar software to create technical diagrams, flowcharts, network schematics, and system architecture diagrams that support written content. Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Work closely with software developers, engineers, and product teams to gather information and ensure accuracy in documentation. Ensure Consistency and Accuracy: Review, edit, and update existing documentation and diagrams to maintain consistency and alignment with the latest product updates. Document Management: Organize and maintain the repository of technical documents and diagrams for easy access and future reference. User-Focused Approach: Ensure all documentation is easy to understand for both technical and non-technical users, helping to improve user experience. Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in technical writing, diagramming tools, and software documentation standards. Required Skills and Qualifications: Experience: 5 years of experience as a technical writer, ideally in software, IT, or related industries. Technical Proficiency: o Strong understanding of software, systems, and technologies. o Ability to write for both technical and non-technical audiences. Diagramming Skills: o Proficiency in using tools such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, draw.io, or similar to create flowcharts, network diagrams, and architecture diagrams. o Ability to visualize and simplify complex systems through diagrams. Writing Skills: o Excellent written and verbal communication skills. o Ability to simplify complex concepts and translate technical jargon into clear, concise content. Tools & Software: o Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar. o Knowledge of version control systems like Git for managing documentation. Attention to Detail: o Strong editing and proofreading skills to ensure accuracy and consistency in all documentation. Collaboration: o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Education: Bachelors degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Agile development teams. Familiarity with APIs and technical specifications. Ability to quickly learn new software and tools.
