Lead Architect - IBC India Factory

Job Description & Qualifications:

At IBC (International Battery Company, Inc.), we are building proprietary NMC & I-NMC Prismatic cells for mobility applications (EVs) that will reduce battery complexity, have 40% higher energy density than LFP cells, and are recyclable. You will work to deliver breakthrough engineering design and solutions in battery technology and be the engineering prowess in the industry.

Lead Architect - IBC India Factory will work in the Infrastructure team in India and supporting teams in the US to support the design and build out of IBC’s Bangalore campus.


The Lead Architect - IBC India Factory will be responsible for leading the design and sourcing of architectural and BIM scopes for the IBC gigafactory through EPC and Manufacturing equipment vendors. This includes but is not limited to producing drawings, designing egress paths, and understanding local codes for building design. As a part of the design process, the lead architect will coordinate facilities designed by EPC contractors to manufacturing equipment selected by the Advanced Manufacturing group. They are also expected to bring their expertise in industrial factory design, and local code to assist in the design of other process systems as a contributor but not a responsible ME


Responsibilities:


● Lead execution on architectural design packages, design reviews, and deliverables for the construction of IBC facilities.

● Lead materials selection for dry room and complex chemical processing areas

● Assist in construction administration activities at the IBC Bangalore campus

● Understand local building code requirements for industrial systems to ensure all drawings and design decisions are compliant.

● Implement innovative design solutions to reduce facility cost and improve construction timeline

● Lead BIM setup and management for design projects


Requirements:


● 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing industrial buildings

● Engineering degree in Architecture Engineering , Civil Engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, or a related field

● Thorough understand of building code requirements for industrial facilities

● Highly proficient in Autodesk Revit

● Experience with complex MEPFP coordination and BIM coordination

● High-tech equipment vendor onboarding and management

● Ability to lead technical efforts to troubleshoot issues that may arise during construction.

● Able to execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

● This role requires international travel > 25% and as needed.

● Commercial/industrial battery experience is preferred.
