Safety Engineer

Job purpose: To ensure effective implementation of safety and health systems during the construction, commissioning, and early operational phases of the carbon plant greenfield project. The role is crucial in fostering a proactive safety culture, minimizing risk, and ensuring legal compliance.

KRAs

1. Safety Planning & Implementation: Assist in developing and executing the site-specific EHS management plan. Prepare Health & Safety budget. Prepare monthly plan. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety laws, rules, and regulations.
2. Risk Management: Conduct and update hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA). Prepare and review Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for critical activities
3. Training & Awareness: Organize safety inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training for workforce and contractors. Promote behavior-based safety and proactive hazard reporting. Encourage in reporting near miss cases and drive proactive safety culture.
4. Site Monitoring & Compliance : Perform daily inspections, safety walks, and audits to ensure work is being carried out safely. Track and report unsafe conditions and behaviors and drive corrective actions. Incident Management: Ensure reporting of all safety observations and incidents including near miss. Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective/preventive actions. Monitor the effectiveness of actions implemented.
5. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of permits, trainings, audits, incidents, and statutory compliance. Maintain legal compliance and consent condition compliance
6. Contractor Safety Management: Coordinate with multiple contractors to ensure alignment with the project's EHS requirements.
7. Emergency Preparedness: Prepare On-site emergency plan. Support the development and execution of on-site emergency response plans and mock drills
