Job Description :


Qualifications :


- 5+ years of experience building, maintaining, forecasting, securing on-prem native distributed systems as well as within Oracle Cloud (OCI)


- Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment


- Strong grasp of Compute, Networking, Storage and Cloud and Infrastructure Technologies


- Proficient in Perl, Python and/or Shell Scripting


- Experienced at building highly available Exadata systems, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols


- Experienced with production operations and best practices for putting quality into all deliverables and troubleshooting issues when they arise


- Experienced with analyzing Exadata Platforms for performance issues both on-prem and in the Oracle Cloud


- Experienced in ensuring adherence to proper Cybersecurity best practices such as Principle of Least Privilege, CIA (confidentiality, integrity, accessibility), encryption in motion and at rest, proper Access Management Controls, proper logging and aggregation of logs needed to assess what changed where, by whom, and when, and so forth.


- Able to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations)


- Understand the end-to-end Exadata configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics


- Working knowledge of Oracle Databases and the interaction between the RDBM/GRID with Exadata


- Experience in sizing and performing capacity planning for Exadata Systems


- Experience in using, setting up and maintaining Sparse Snapshots in Exadata


- Experience in patching and performing activities related to hardware maintenance in Exadata systems


- Knowledge in interconnecting Exadata with other Engineered Systems (PCA, Exalogic, ZDLRA. ZFS, etc)


- Familiar with Exadata utilities (dbcli, exachk, etc) General management of Oracle Database structures to facilitate in incident investigation


- Able to work flexible schedules including some weekends and nights when needed on an emergency basis


Skills :


- System Engineer with extensive experience in : Oracle Grid Infrastructure, ASM & RAC Oracle RDBMS and Linux/Exadata Security


- Building, management, security, maintenance, and forecasting scale on a multi-Exadata environment Maintaining and Patching for Exadata Platforms both on-prem as well as in Oracle Cloud


- High availability & replication technologies (Dataguard, Goldengate)


- Working knowledge and understanding of scripting/coding (Shell, Perl and Python)


- Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack


- Understanding of the Oracle database, the memory and storage structures, the ability to stop/start/relocate the RDBMS/GRID services, comprehension of the RDBMS/GRID log and trace files and ability to communicate and build cohesion with Database Administrators


- Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles


- Understand and explain the impact of product architecture decisions on distributed systems


- Strong detailed documentation principles are a must; clean and clear writing of SOPs and capturing of commands in run-books before execution and saving for post-work analysis to be shared to the greater team for training and understanding is a requirement


- Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies
