Job Title: Head of Technology Consulting – Banking & Financial ServicesLocation: Mumbai/ChennaiReporting to: Head of ConsultingRole OverviewWe are seeking a Head of Technology Consulting to lead advisory engagements withbanks and financial institutions, guiding them through enterprise-wide transformation —from their current to future state architecture.This leader will help banks modernize their technology landscape, hollow the core, andbuild resilient, cloud-native, data-driven, and AI-enabled ecosystems.The ideal candidate combines deep banking domain knowledge (spanning both retail andcorporate banking) with proven expertise in enterprise architecture, modernizationstrategy, cloud, data, and emerging technologies.Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Technology AdvisoryEngage with bank CXOs and CIOs to define their technology vision,modernization roadmap, and future-state architecture.Lead current-to-future state assessments across core banking, payments,channels, lending, and trade, treasury, and data ecosystems.Define and drive “hollow the core” strategies—decoupling legacy systems andenabling composable, API-led architectures.Shape enterprise blueprints that align technology, business, and data strategiesto enable agility, scalability, and faster time-to-market.2. Banking Transformation LeadershipDesign and oversee transformation programs across retail and corporatebanking—covering core modernization, digital enablement, and intelligentautomation.Evaluate legacy technology estates and propose modernization paths includingcore replacement, cloud migration, or integration overlays.Align technology initiatives with business growth priorities, regulatorycompliance, and operational resilience.3. Cloud, Data & AI StrategyDefine multi-cloud and hybrid cloud adoption frameworks addressing dataresidency, security, and performance.Develop data modernization strategies—covering data lake design, governance,and real-time analytics enablement.Build AI/ML enablement frameworks to help banks leverage data-drivenintelligence across operations, risk, and customer experience.Identify and drive AI use cases such as predictive risk modeling, paymentinvestigation, fraud detection, customer analytics, and generative AI–poweredautomation.Guide banks in building resilient, adaptive architectures that ensure continuity,compliance, and performance across platforms.4. Ecosystem & Partnership EnablementHelp banks leverage fintech, hyperscale, and ecosystem partnerships toaccelerate transformation.Shape open banking, API monetization, and platform integration strategies.Collaborate with cloud and technology partners to co-create innovative digitalsolutions and joint go-to-market initiatives.5. Practice Development & LeadershipBuild and mentor a high-performing consulting team of enterprise architects andtransformation specialists.Develop banking technology playbooks, transformation frameworks, and maturitymodels.Drive thought leadership through whitepapers, client forums, and industryconferences.Represent the firm as a trusted advisor and industry thought leader in bankingtechnology transformation.Key Skills & ExperienceEssential:15+ years in banking technology, enterprise architecture, or consulting, withsignificant exposure to retail and corporate banking.Deep understanding of core banking systems, digital channels, payments,lending, trade, treasury, and cash management.Proven experience in designing and leading large-scale transformation andmodernization programs.Expertise in modern architecture paradigms — microservices, APIs, event-drivendesign, containerization, and cloud-native platforms.Hands-on experience in cloud strategy, resilience design, and data platformmodernization.Understanding of AI/ML technologies and their application in banking — includingautomation, personalization, and decision intelligence.Strong ability to engage, influence, and build trust with CXO-level stakeholders.Desirable:Exposure to Islamic banking and regional regulatory frameworks (e.g., Middle East,Africa, or Asia).Experience with hyperscaler ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data/AI platformintegration.Prior consulting experience with Big 4, large SIs, or specialized bankingtechnology firms.Demonstrated thought leadership in AI, cloud, or digital transformation for banking.Education & CertificationsBachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).Certifications in Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF), Cloud Architecture (AWS,Azure, or GCP), or AI/ML are desirable.Personal AttributesStrategic thinker with a passion for technology-led banking transformation.Deep domain understanding with the ability to connect business, data, andtechnology strategies.Strong communicator and storyteller who can simplify complex concepts for CXOaudiences.Visionary leader who inspires teams and clients to embrace innovation, AI, andecosystem thinking.Collaborative, adaptable, and driven to make measurable client impact.
