Job Purpose
To deliver comprehensive, first-class customer service by providing information, advice, support and guidance as part of delivering the Blue Badge service (and associated council services), in line with current Welsh Government policy, process and criteria.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
To work as a team to assist customers with the Blue Badge Parking permit online applications, using the Department of Transport online form and Wesh Government policy.
To support all Denbighshire residents to be able to meet the qualifying criteria for a Blue Badge parking permit, in line with the Welsh Government’s policy and guidance for eligibility.
To evaluate information and evidence submitted as part of the Blue Badge application process and approve /refuse based each application based on the Welsh government policy, guidelines and criteria for eligibility.
To provide an individual confidential and sensitive service for the most vulnerable, who need help and support to complete the online application form.
Answer enquiries and complaints promptly and courteously, applying excellent customer service skills and behaviours as appropriate, to the satisfaction of the enquirer.
Work with partner services, on behalf of the customer, to apply and provide evidence for eligibility for a Blue Badge parking permit.
Assist in ensuring that any updated information regarding the current policy is shared with the team.
Work as part of a wider team to report any system issues which may prevent progress of the application process.
Requirements Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
• Excellent customer service skills and experience of direct customer service
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to deal with people of all ages and abilities, by phone, in writing and by electronic communication
• Enthusiasm and passion for delivering excellent customer service
• Ability to assess customers’ needs and provide accurate information and assistance
• Good general IT and keyboard skills (ECDL desirable) including using the internet, e-mail and software packages
• Good basic education (minimum 5 GCSEs or equivalent)
• Ability to deal with difficult situations in an appropriate manner
• Ability to work as part of a team and without direct daily supervision – self reliant
• Bilingual skills essential – Welsh / English
DBS check will be require to deal with personal dealt with by 3rd part y agencies e.g. DWP

Knowledge & Skills Requirements Possess a BTEC or equivalent qualification in a Business, Computing, or Administrative field. Demonstrate strong proficiency in utilising IT and Management Information Systems (MIS) solutions, specifically Microsoft Office software. Possess prior MIS, Business, or Administrative experience. Possess experience or the necessary skills to supervise staff in the short term effectively. Possess experience with ONE and/or SIMS. Possess strong written communication skills and experience in disseminating information to relevant parties. Possess experience or the necessary skills to take minutes when required accurately.
