Job Description

The role of a CAD Technician - Electrical (Oil & Gas) is a vital position within the oil and gas industry. This individual is responsible for creating and modifying electrical computer-aided design (CAD) models, drawings, and schematics for various oil and gas projects. They work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that electrical designs are accurate, efficient, and compliant with industry standards.

Job Title: CAD Technician - Electrical (Oil & Gas)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Create and modify electrical CAD drawings and 3D models for oil and gas projects, including power distribution systems, lighting layouts, control panels, and instrumentation.

2. Collaborate with electrical engineers and designers to understand project requirements and translate them into accurate CAD designs.

3. Ensure that all electrical CAD designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations, such as NEC, API, and IEEE.

4. Review and check electrical drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.

5. Maintain and update CAD libraries, templates, and standards for electrical designs.

6. Work in coordination with other multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, and architectural elements.

7. Assist in the development of bills of materials (BOMs), material take-offs, and procurement of electrical components and equipment.

8. Provide technical support and assistance to project managers, site engineers, and construction teams during the implementation of electrical designs.

Qualifications and Skills:

- A Diploma in Electrical engineering / bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical design, or related field is preferred.

- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, CADWORKS, MicroStation, and Revit, with a focus on electrical design capabilities.

- Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power distribution systems, lighting design, and instrumentation.

- Familiarity with industry standards and codes, including NEC, API, and IEEE.

- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.

- Prior experience in the oil and gas industry or similar industrial projects is a plus.
