THE ROLE
We are a small team, so you will have a real opportunity to make executive decisions, and immerse yourself in all aspects of retail. Your role will involve diving into data from across our business: sales, inventory, operations metrics and customer insights. Through this, you will be key in driving strategy and providing insights into resources needed from operations to marketing. Furthermore, with your business intelligence you will be able to assist in defining and refining processes from returns, last mile logistics to the supply chain.
Moving forward, we have ambitious plans to rethink the way we use data, making it easier to access, report on, create insights, make changes to our ways of working and measure the impact. Having an accurate and dynamic view of where our customer demand and operational capacities sit, allows us to remain agile in the face of a shifting retail environment, and steer corporate strategies on growth and investment into where it will make the most impact.
What will you be doing?
Deep data analysis, designing reports and dashboards using BigQuery & Data Studio
Supporting the team through regular and ad-hoc analysis of technical and non-technical metrics, automating as much as possible.
Working with different stakeholders to define the scope of data projects & methodology, ensuring that we are asking and answering the correct questions.
Monitoring the data quality of our base datasets (daily inventory capture, product, orders, etc.) and flagging any major concerns to the relevant stakeholders
Maintaining documentation for projects and scheduled/ongoing queries
Problem solving
Example projects:
Designing and writing the related queries for a customer retention dashboard that analyses the churn of cohorts over time based on their number of shops, their average order spend and frequency of purchase over time
Designing and writing the related queries for an operations metrics dashboard that staff can use as a self service tool to see KPIs related to them (customer concerns, units picked per day, etc.)
Requirements
Any 4 year degree that requires a high level of numeracy and/or commercial awareness (degrees related to Science and Technology, Engineering, Math, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or Entrepreneurship)
Ability to gather and understand business requirements
Excellent communication skills
Statistical analysis skills ex. Statistical significance
Strong Excel skills (VBA is a plus)
Strong ability to query relational databases using SQL (preferably BigQuery)
Exemplary standards of personal integrity and respect for others – collaborative team working, able to quickly build relationships based on trust and transparency.

Experience in offline retail, grocery, consulting or online retail
Previous experience as a business analyst or in a similar role
Experience with business intelligence platforms or creating your own dashboards (preferably Data Studio or Tableau)
