Plastics: With new technology trends, our plastic additives can be experienced in many everyday items including vinyl, blow-molding bottles, film, rigid containers, PVC plastics, siding, decks and rails, foam pipes and profile formulations, window frames, high-efficiency lubricants. Industrial intermediates: As the product of a reaction that is beneficial when used as a precursor chemical for another product, industrial intermediates can take on many shapes and forms. Ours are used in home comfort and appliance, building and construction, adhesives and lubricants, and more. Coatings: Whether it’s a water-based coating or solvent-based coating, a thin film is deposited on materials to enhance specific properties such as enhanced performance, durability, aesthetics, and sustainability. Silicone businesses: Our silicone-based materials can withstand more demanding applications, from those operating at extreme temperatures, to those under harsh environmental conditions for long periods of time.

Students will be provided specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations, and maintenance. Understands and implements the Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within their discipline. The Hardware Disciplines within Engineering and Maintenance are comprised of the following disciplines: Buildings, Civil, Electrical, Instrument, Materials, Mechanical, Process Containment Equipment, and Piping. Hardware Disciplines support both projects and technical support teams as an inspector, and engineers on large projects or lead for their discipline on small/intermediate projects. Requires conceptual knowledge of theories, techniques, and methodology within the analytical technology discipline.

Responsibilities / Duties

Applies Global Project Methodology (GPM) and Process Automation Work Process Discipline. Ensures that the project scope is well defined and meets the business needs in a cost effective manner. Ensures that the process automation is safe, meets DOW LPP’s and other EH&S requirements. Drives project execution within their discipline. Provides input to project schedule and plans, then monitors progress against the plans. Ensures discipline design deliverables for their discipline meet the needs of the project: functions as intended, on time and within budget. Identifies technical problems and appropriately engages the business technology center and SME network to resolve. Programs control applications for various distributed control systems. Writes simulation applications in order to verify functionality of the control program and for training plant operators. Participates in project commissioning and startup activities, including tuning of control loops. Develops knowledge and skills in all aspects of Process Automation. Obtains basic knowledge of unit operations and Chemical Engineering fundamentals.

Experience

A Bachelor or master's degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Material Science / Metallurgical Engineer.
