We are Looking for a Sr. Finance Operations AnalystExperienced FinOps PractitionerAWS Cloud and Consumption-based SaaSHigh-visibility role with Executive SupportPOSITION PURPOSEIncreasingly IDP has consumption-based services such as Cloud, CaaS, Digital Advertising. The FinOps Analyst is a financial professional who specialises in methods to optimise and continuously improve the management of these consumption costs.

The Senior FinOps Analyst is part of the Technology Management Office and works closely with Cloud Operations team members, owners of Consumption based SaaS solutions, and technology leadership to establish and maintain the environment for consumption cost optimisation.

Key Performance Area & Key Responsibility

Accountability ModelMaintain documentation on the rationale and specifics of Consumption Cost accountability model.Consumption CostVisibilityEnsure visibility of actionable cost information is available to the necessary stakeholders.

Consumption Cost AttributionAttribute spending to applications, projects and other business assets enables cost awareness and drive accountability.Provide governance over attribution (tagging & other Metadata) compliance and design.Manage the attribution logic and attribution for shared resources.Cost Incident ManagementDetect and investigate cost anomalies.Work with CloudOps to build alerting and guardrails.Consumption Cost AllocationManage the process of allocating Cloud and other consumption-based costs to the business based on agreed attribution rules.Consumption Budget AdministrationWork with Budget Owners to push accountability into Operational groups through granular budgets, and regular reporting.Manage the monthly review of performance to plan for the first sub-level of each consumption cost poolConsumption Cost TrainingPrepare and conduct training sessions with Engineers and others who make operational decisions leading to consumption costs.Consumption Unit EconomicsProvide Unit Economic reporting linking the cost of Consumption costs to the most relevant business metrics.

Consumption Procurement ManagementIDP utilizes a range of Cloud Procurement approaches to manage the cost of consumed resources.Manage the identification, procurement, and renewal of these procurements.Cost Optimisation Initiative Tracking

Here’s what you’ll needFinancial Management SkillsA strong commercial acumen with a background in business financial operationsBachelor's or a Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology ManagementUnderstanding of the core Finance & Accounting principles, basic understanding of the accounting processes (budgeting, accruals, etc.)5+ years of experience as a technical business analyst or data analyst, Management or Cost Accountant, or FinOps analyst.Cloud Computing ExpertiseKnowledge and understanding of AWS pricing schemesExperience with native and 3rd party AWS cost management & advisory tools (AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor, Cloudability etc.)

Data Analysis and Presentation SkillsStrong skills in using data extraction and manipulation from Vendor portals and data sets.Demonstrative SQL, Python and Advanced Excel skills.Skilled at producing high-quality PowerPoints as effective communicationsVery strong analytical and financial modelling skills. Ability to use data from Cloud and other Consumption based services to produce.Excellent written and oral communication abilities. The ability to prepare concise, and outcome-based analysis, guidance, and action plans.Practical budgeting and variance experience.Ability to work independently with strong attention to details and accuracy

It would be great, but not mandatory, if you…FinOps Certified PractitionerTechnical Experience as a Cloud EngineerTechnical or management experience with AWSAn interest or knowledge of data visualisation practices (PowerBI, Tableau etc)Experience in automating data flows, and reporting.Experience applying FinOps concepts to SaaS solutions with consumption-based pricing models.Experience in designing tagging or meta-data strategies.
