The Role :

Data Ops Engineer (DE) Consultant is responsible for providing Operations support for On-prem data assets by liaising with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities :

- Will be providing L1/L2/L3 operations support for on-prem data assets.

- Evaluate and select the tools required to improve the monitoring of data assets.

- Will act as the lead for the team in case of a future ramp-up.

Must have :

- 5+ years of experience in Data Ops with 2+ years of experience as team lead

- Strong knowledge of Unix

- Expectation is to have the ability to write scripts using Unix commands.

- Good knowledge of Python (Pyspark, Scala)

- Expectation is to understand how a Pyspark job is written and the ability to debug the program.

- Good knowledge of SQL, Hadoop, Hive, Greenplum

- Expectation is to write basic SQL to query metadata and other tables on Oracle, Hive, and Greenplum

- Expectation is to know the features of Hadoop commands and run them from Unix edge nodes.

- Expectation is to use Hue or Beeline to run Hive SQLs

- Good working knowledge on Kubernetes, reading logs, and understanding pods/containers.

- Expectation is to use "kubectl" and monitor K8 pods.

- Expectation is to interpret the cause of job failure by looking into K8 logs

- Strong Communication skills

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

Good To have :

- Good Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience

- Demonstrated consulting skills with change management concepts and strategies.
