Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Assistant Fund Controller - Private Equity, located in Bengaluru. The Assistant Fund Controller will be responsible for daily fund administration tasks, preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing finance and accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires close collaboration with the finance team to maintain accurate financial records and support the company's financial health.

Fund Accounting & Reporting

  • Oversee quarterly and annual fund financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and limited partnership agreements.
  • Review fund NAV calculations, capital calls, and distributions prepared by the fund administrator.
  • Ensure accurate waterfall, carried interest, and management fee calculations.
  • Consolidate portfolio-level financial data for fund-level reporting.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

  • Manage annual fund audits and coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely completion.
  • Review tax returns, K-1s, and other tax deliverables prepared by external tax advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC, and other regulatory reporting requirements as applicable.

Internal Controls & Process Improvements

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and implement process efficiencies within fund accounting and reporting.
  • Support the implementation of new financial systems and reporting tools.

Team Collaboration

  • Partner with portfolio operations, deal teams, and treasury functions to ensure alignment across financial data.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior finance professionals within the team.

Required Skills:

  • 6–8 years of experience
    in private equity fund accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong understanding of compelx private equity structures, partnership accounting, and fund economics.
  • Proficiency with fund accounting systems (e.g., Investran, eFront, or equivalent).
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
