Wood India Consulting Business unit is currently recruiting for a Senior Environmental / Sustainability Engineer within our Carbon Advisory team. This position is based in Chennai and because success in the role will require in-person contact with the team, remote work is not an option. The Role The Senior Environmental / Sustainability Engineer will be a key technical resource by sharing knowledge and experience to aid overall development of competencies supporting the programme of projects being delivered across a portfolio of clients. As a focal point for Environmental / Sustainability Engineering this role will ensure our projects are executed safely, on-time, to budget and to the required standard. You will assist the Team Leader to identify and carry out business development activities to support the winning of new work as well as reviewing of project proposal documents.In addition, this role will be responsible for the mentoring and development of other team members ensuring the knowledge and experience you have is shared to support in the future growth of the team and the industry. Education & Skills: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. Approximately 5 to 10 years’ experience in environmental or sustainability consulting in the energy sector with proven ability to lead projects and business development. Strong background in GHG accounting (., ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, SBTi). Familiarity with corporate ESG frameworks and certification standards. Knowledge of product sustainability / low carbon standards Experience in climate risk assessment and resilience planning. Ability to integrate technical findings with policy and market insights. Knowledge of industrial decarbonisation technologies and their application in real-world projects.  Ability to translate technical findings into actionable strategies for clients. An understanding of the international policy and economic frameworks driving climate change and sustainability agendas Strong analytical skills and can systematically break a complex task into more manageable parts and identify the critical components of a problem A confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficient/ fluent in English Demonstrable high-quality report writing and presentation skills Good organisational and project management skills Keen to learn and to share learning with others  Desirable: Experience with circular economy assessments and material flow analysis. Experience in life cycle assessment methodologies. Knowledge of emerging sustainability regulations and disclosure standards (., ISSB, EU CSRD). Familiarity with environmental and social impact assessment processes. Ability to deliver market intelligence reports on low-carbon technologies and supply chains. Competence in LCA software tools (., GaBi, SimaPro). Demonstrable background in engineering decarbonisation studies and/or life cycle assessments Good negotiation skills Experience of business winning and seeking business opportunities Developing Corporate Sustainability Report. undefined
