Job Role: Trainer -Metrology

Job Summary:

As a Metrology Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering training in quality assurance inspection and metrology, ensuring that students acquire the knowledge and skills required to excel in the latest Industry practices of precision measurement and quality control. You will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of professionals in manufacturing and quality assurance in all engineering and other advanced manufacturing sectors.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver training courses on metrology topics, such as measurement principles, uncertainty analysis, calibration methods, dimensional metrology, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), coordinate measuring machines (CMM), etc. including both theoretical and practical components.
• Develop and maintain training materials, course content, and curriculum aligned with industry standards and emerging trends.
• Provide hands-on instruction on the proper use of metrology equipment, such as coordinate measuring machines (CMM), optical comparators, and various measurement tools.
• Understand and teach the latest trends in Automation of inspection in the Metrology room and Online inspection.
• Foster a dynamic learning environment, encouraging student engagement, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Assess student progress, provide feedback, and implement strategies for improvement.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in metrology and incorporate relevant industry practices into the training.
• Collaborate with the curriculum development team to continuously enhance and tailor the metrology program to meet the needs of the industry.
• Maintain a safe and organized training environment, ensuring the proper use and maintenance of training equipment.
• Encourage students to participate in skill competitions and other extracurricular activities related to metrology.
• Contribute to the institution's goals by participating in faculty meetings, professional development, and initiatives to enhance the learning experience.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

1. B. Tech/B. E: Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 8-10 years experience, or M. Tech/M. E. A master's in engineering with at least 7 years of experience in mechanical/machine design/advanced manufacturing/production technology.

2. At least 4-5 years of experience in training/teaching

3. Certification from a recognized metrology organization, such as ASQ or NCSL International is highly preferred.

4. Exposure and awareness of industry best practices, such as the 8D methodology, TQM, PDCA, FMEA, data analysis, and the ability to capture COQ and COPQ data, is highly preferred.

5. Proficient in using various metrology equipment and software, such as CMMs, callipers, micrometers, gauges, etc is highly preferred.

6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

7. Passion for teaching and mentoring students.

8. Ability to explain complex concepts in simple and clear terms.

9. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs.

10. Familiarity with quality management systems and standards such as ISO 9001 is an added advantage.
