The Role :We are seeking a
Soil Chemist
or
Laboratory Technician
with recent experience working in a commercial analytical laboratory to join our Melbourne-based team. This role involves routine testing of soil samples for agriculture, mining, and environmental purposes using advanced chemical and instrumental techniques.This is a
full-time position
on a
12-month contract , with the possibility of a permanent role for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities :Conduct routine sample testing using
wet chemistry
and
instrumental techniques .Operate analytical instruments, including
ICP (OES) ,
AA (flame) ,
LECO ,
IC , and
auto-titrators .Analyze and report data, and assist with investigations into out-of-specification results.Support laboratory operations by performing routine equipment maintenance, method development, and internal audits.Maintain a strong focus on
lab safety
and continuous improvement initiatives.Adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to the laboratory’s safety-first culture.
Selection Criteria :Degree
in a chemistry-related field, or
Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques
with at least 3 years of laboratory experience.In-depth understanding of analytical chemistry principles and the operation of instruments used in testing.Proven ability to follow analytical procedures with a strong focus on
quality and safety .Experience operating
ICP (OES) ,
AA (flame) ,
LECO ,
IC , and
auto-titrators
is essential.Ability to work both
autonomously
and within a
team .Excellent
time management
skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage workloads efficiently.Strong
interpersonal
and
communication skills
(written and verbal).
