Software Engineering Lead

Job DescriptionOpportunity Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with an overall experience of 9 - 11 years to join Upland India as Software Engineering Lead for our Upland PostUp product. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter/learner and capable of working within an established code base to make enhancements and manage a small team of engineers and testers to deliver to the stated priorities and product roadmap.

What would you do?

Be a player + coach to provide guidance to the team during code, design, and architecture reviews.Actively participate in owning deliverables by self while working and guiding the rest of the team.Manage, mentor, and provide work-related guidance and career guidance for a team of engineers.Work with the team to ensure that roadmap commitments are met.Be comfortable finding the balance taking ownership of the team’s deliverables while giving the engineers the space to take ownership of their work.Track delivery items for the team and ensure that work output satisfies the requirements and is of high quality.Be passionate about technology and stay on top of new developments.Jump-in and help the team deliver features, when required.Give constructive criticism that helps people grow professionally and personally.Attract, Motivate and Retain a team of engineers.What are we looking for?Technical Skills

Experience

An overall industry experience of 9 - 11 years of technical and managerial experience in global teams

Primary Skills

(mandatory skills)

•Develop server-side Java code.•Develop and optimize SQL queries ( •Maintain / extend JSP pages using JavaScript and jQuery. •Manage and lead a small, distributed development team. •Participates in product roadmap, planning meetings•Lead development activities from spec refinement to code reviews. •Delegate feature ownership while maintaining oversight. •Mentor team members in development process and technical areas.

Secondary Skills

(nice to have)

•JetBrains’s IntelliJ IDE.•Basic branch management using Git/Bitbucket.•Manage SQL Server (basic) •Agile development using Jira, Confluence, and MS Teams. •Present technical output to stakeholders.

Soft Skills

•Strong communication, presentation, and decision-making skills. •Must have excellent written and verbal English skills.•Experience in managing a small remote team of engineers and testers. •Thrive in a collaborative team environment. •Focus on delivering value to end users. •Flexible decision process based on product direction and tactical considerations. •Functional understanding of agile principles and methodologies.

•Possesses a good work ethic; a self-starter with a desire to grow. •Always looking for better ways to get the job done. •Able to use unstructured time effectively.Qualification

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent will be required for this role.About PostUp
