Sr. Exhibition Designer will lead design phases of gallery/museum projects, collaborating closely with primarily spatial planning team, research team, and visual design team, to create exhibition spaces. Responsibilities include developing design concepts, planning exhibit displays, producing detailed drawings and visualizations, specifyingmaterials and finishes, liaising with the design team on the visual identity and graphic design.

The Designer will play a pivotal role in translating curatorial visions into immersive and engaging gallery experiences while managing all aspects of design, and production, and installation along with project manager and department head to ensure successful project outcomes.

An ideal candidate must fulfil the following:• Imaginative, creative with good communication skills and ability to story-tell• Have a keen interest in arts, culture and design research• Ability to adapt varying timelines• Self-driven and motivated• A high level of independence and sense of responsibility• Team Player, ability to work effectively with other stakeholders• Have technical drawing skills, an eye for shape and color be able to use computer-based design programmes• Ideally, have experience in displays and exhibitions for museums, galleries and other similar organizations, trade and industry exhibitions

Key Responsibilities

Individual

Gallery Design & Scenography:○ Undertaken research-oriented design process for development of exhibition displays in museum, and other culturally oriented public spaces.○ Develop design sketches and visualization images for collaborative discussion with curatorial teams.○ Present design concepts aligned with stakeholder aims, narratives, themes, and content, while incorporating smart technology to strengthen the storyline.○ Work on plans, schematic drawings, elevations, and sections for exhibition spaces with spatial planners and architects.○ Clearly articulate conceptual thoughts and the reasoning behind design choices through both spoken and visual means.

2. Display Design:○ Design displays, mounts, hangs, and exhibit areas.○ Develop/procure specifications for display cases, ensuring structural integrity and conservation compliance (if any).○ Specify colour schemes, finishes, textiles, and surfaces for aesthetic and functional purposes.

3. Collaborative:● Production Phase Oversight:○ Shortlist vendors and specialist agencies for procurement, production, and installation.○ Collaborate with internal and external team to Estimate production and installation costs, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.● Third-Party Coordination:○ Collaborate third-party vendors for display case engineering, fabrication, and installation.○ Collaborate with in-house team and coordinate with vendors for interior architecture elements, print production, AV media technology, and accessibility solutions withing timelines and budgets.○ Ensure adherence to design specifications and standards for all components produced by third parties.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise• A Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Degree in Exhibition Design, Architecture, Interior Design is a pre-requisite.• 7-10 years of experience in designing exhibitions, museums, interpretation centre or similar projects is essential.• Strong creative and visual design skills• Proficiency in 3D and 2D design software such as 3ds Max/AutoCAD/Lumion/SketchUp/ Revit/ V-Ray, and Adobe Creative Suite, etc.• Strong organizational abilities for multitasking and record-keeping.• Experience in executing deliverables on museum and exhibition projects.• Experience working with product managers and other creative professionals.• Competency with standard presentation programs PowerPoint & Keynote.• Strong portfolio showing a breadth of research-oriented projects.• Willingness to adapt to occasional travel.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise• Experience in the government sector is advantageous.• Experience working with technological integration in exhibition design and displays is preferred.
