Job Title: Senior Performance Test Engineer ________________________________________ Job Summary The Senior Performance Test Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and executing performance tests to ensure that the platform and the applications meet the required performance criteria. This role involves collaborating with development teams, analyzing performance bottlenecks, and providing solutions to enhance system scalability, reliability, and responsiveness. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities 1. Performance Testing Strategy o Develop and implement performance testing strategies and frameworks for applications and systems, including microservices. o Define performance test objectives, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs). 2. Test Planning and Execution o Design, create, and execute performance test cases, scenarios, and scripts using performance testing tools (e.g., K6, JMeter, Load Runner, Gatling). o Simulate user loads to analyze the platform behavior under peak conditions. o Conduct performance testing for microservices, focusing on API latency, throughput, and reliability under different loads. o Evaluate the scalability of individual microservices and their interactions under various conditions. 3. Microservice Performance Testing o Analyze and test the performance of microservices in distributed architectures. o Ensure proper functioning of service discovery, load balancing, and communication protocols (e.g., REST, g RPC, Web Socket). o Evaluate the impact of dependencies and latency across microservices. o Optimize resource usage, including CPU, memory, and I/O for microservices. 4. Performance Analysis o Monitor, collect, and analyze performance data during tests. o Provide detailed performance reports, including root cause analysis, trends, and recommendations. o Use tools and frameworks like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack to monitor microservices performance metrics. 5. Collaboration and Communication o Work closely with developers, architects, and product managers to ensure performance considerations are incorporated early in the development lifecycle. o Communicate performance test results and recommendations effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders. 6. Tool Management and Scripting o Maintain and enhance performance testing tools and frameworks. o Develop and optimize test scripts for microservices using tools like JMeter, Postman, or custom scripts in Python, Java, or similar. 7. Continuous Improvement o Stay updated with emerging trends and best practices in performance and microservices testing. o Provide mentorship and guidance. o Proactively suggest improvements to development and testing processes to enhance application performance. ________________________________________ Required Qualifications Education: • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering. Experience: • 8+ years of experience in performance testing role. • Proven experience with performance testing tools such as K6, JMeter. • Experience in testing microservices and distributed systems. Technical Skills: • Strong knowledge of system architectures, microservices, and APIs (REST/g RPC, Web Socket). • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Java, or Java Script. • Strong experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ). • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and processes. • Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
