Position: Software Distribution & Patch Management TrainerJob Type:  FreelanceLocation: Remote Duration: StandardRole Overview The Software Distribution and Patch Management Specialist is responsible for deploying, maintaining, and securing software and system updates across enterprise environments. The role ensures all systems are up to date with the latest software, patches, and configurations to maintain security compliance, operational efficiency, and system stability . Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and manage software distribution and patch management policies across servers, desktops, and endpoints. Perform end-to-end patch lifecycle management — identification, testing, deployment, and verification. Deploy and update operating systems, applications, and security patches using automation tools. Maintain inventory and compliance reports of software and patch levels. Troubleshoot failed deployments and coordinate with system teams for resolution. Schedule and manage maintenance windows for patch rollouts. Ensure compliance with information security standards and audit requirements. Integrate patch management systems with endpoint protection, SCCM, WSUS, Intune, Ivanti, or other enterprise tools . Automate tasks using PowerShell, Python, or scripting tools for efficiency. Work closely with IT Security to address vulnerability remediation and zero-day patching. Required Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of patch management tools such as: Microsoft SCCM / MECM / WSUS Ivanti / ManageEngine / BigFix / Tanium / Intune Red Hat Satellite / SUSE Manager / VMware vSphere Update Manager (for Linux/VMware environments) Experience in software packaging and deployment . Understanding of Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems . Knowledge of vulnerability management and security compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST). Scripting skills in PowerShell, VBScript, or Python for automation. Familiarity with Active Directory, GPOs, and network configurations for deployment. Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
