As a Sr Lead Software Engineer - Python, AWS Developer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate & Investment Bank Markets Technology - Currencies and Emerging Markets Team, you lead innovation through the development of products and features that delight our stakeholders. As a leader on the team, you leverage your advanced capabilities to challenge traditional approaches, remove barriers to success, and foster a culture of continuous innovation that helps inspire our teams to accelerate value delivery and create groundbreaking solutions for our stakeholders. 

As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. You will be accountable for driving our technical vision, strategy, measurable outcomes, and roadmaps for Athena’s platform cloud services that enable Athena’s distributed compute on AWS in partnership with our engineering leadership and product owners. You will be responsible for stakeholder engagement and communication improving our ability to articulate business value and risk and prioritize our work accordingly. You will lead and influence our teams to design and deliver high-quality solutions and accelerate value delivery for our stakeholders. 

Job Responsibilities

Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems. Work on JP Morgan flagship technology product, Athena, which is one of the largest Python code bases in the world (50+ million lines of code). Develop secure high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others. Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems. Work on in-house python-based technology platforms migration to public cloud- by optimizing computation, storage and scheduling systems. Gain exposure to Pricing, Risk and Trade Management functions by working closely with business users. Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

Formal training, or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience Several years of experience using, building, or interacting with the core platform AWS services and distributed compute APIs and solutions in Markets Technology Several years of software development experience in the following Core platform areas: distributed (grid) compute and AWS services. Ability to define functional and non-functional requirements, and facilitate solution designs for Athena’s distributed compute solutions and Athena on AWS Excellent presentation written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated prior experience working in a highly matrixed, complex, and diverse organization with a high degree of adaptability and a continuous learning mindset.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills.

Experience working in the FICC technology space and risk/pnl analytics. Prior SecDb/Athena/Quartz experience. Solution Architect Cloud Certifications.
