Job Description

Accounts Receivable Specialist duties and responsibilities

The Accounts Receivable Specialist manages customer billing and incoming payments, properly tracking them into the system to maintain accurate bookkeeping records. The Accounts Receivable Specialist has the following responsibilities:

Maintaining bookkeeping software and spreadsheets and updating information as needed

Collecting payments from customers and accurately recording them in the system

Setup and updating client accounts based on payment or contact information

Generating timely and accurate customer invoices on a daily/monthly basis (volume approximately 300 invoices per month.)

Maintaining accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date

Working with other departments to resolve billing issues or disputes

Processing customer payments, refunds, and adjustments

Reconciling customer accounts and identifying/resolving discrepancies

Maintaining accurate customer files, including invoices and payment records

Researching and resolving customer inquiries

Following up with customers regarding overdue payments

Assisting with month-end closing activities

Accounts Receivable Specialist skills and qualifications

Communication: Developed written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to professionally communicate with clients, requesting payment.

Project management: Strong project management skills. Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Need to be flexible enough to handle lots of information at once.

Organization: Organizational skills are crucial to stay on track when dealing with all the facets of their roles. The ability to closely pay attention to detail to ensure records and reports remain accurate.

Computer expertise: Advanced computer skills. Work with multiple systems including accounting and bookkeeping computer programs and licensing.

Accounts Receivable Specialist education and training requirements
Associate's or bachelor's degree in finance, accounting.

Accounts Receivable Specialist experience requirements

At least 3 years accounting experience as Accounts Receivables Specialist.

Proficient with Intuit Quickbooks Desktop and Microsoft Office applications.
