About the Engineering Team

The engineering team is a group of passionate engineers who, in close collaboration with data scientists, product managers, designers, and UX researchers, build the future of the online education industry. We build our products to scale and to last, we don’t take shortcuts (hello tests and documentation), and we take pride in delivering high-quality solutions on time.

Role

We are searching for a seasoned engineering leader who has experience in leading product development teams.

This individual will lead the India Learning Services platform group and report directly to the Vice President of Engineering, Learning Services.

The major responsibility will be to take care of multiple Learning services products and technology teams working out of India -these teams work directly with their counterpart teams in the US (California and NY) so experience working across time zones, setting up the right process for optimal communication and throughput, and keeping the teams motivated and engaged is a must. You will not only provide technical guidance but take a position of authority on shaping the strategy, plan, and ensure rapid delivery of services with quality. The teams will also continue to grow, so hiring will also be a focus.

Key Responsibilities

• Experience in managing multiple full-stack product engineering teams

• Experience architecting/building highly scalable, secure, and available systems on cloud infrastructure

• Experience working across multiple time zones

• Effective stakeholder management

• Ability to optimize engineering processes and has developed products leveraging agile development methodologies

• Good grasp of Technologies and ability to define product architectures and roadmap in collaboration with global architects and product managers respectively

• Strong mentoring abilities, proven record of growing engaged teams who deliver on time with great quality

• Hire and grow an engineering organization with a direct and matrixed staff of Engineers, Product Managers, UX Designers, QA and DevOps Engineers

• Someone who can define and measure success in any endeavor

• Effective communication skills, including written and verbal communication

• Great execution and influencing skills

• Adaptable and ability to thrive in ambiguity

• Appetite to work in a fast-moving product development ecosystem

Qualifications

• BE or MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering.

• 15+ years of managing multiple product engineering teams in India and working with the US

• Passion for building highly scalable and highly available systems on cloud infrastructure

• Strong engineering leadership and ability to attract top talent, motivate people, instill accountability and get the best out of the team

• Knowledge and expertise in cloud-first strategies, including AWS, GCP, G Suite

• Experience building relationships and understanding technology needs in dynamic and fast-moving global business environments

• A quick thinker and a problem solver

• Ability to innovate and create value

• Leadership by influence and not authority
