Manager, Software Engineering Machine Learning Manager, Software Engineering Machine Learning Manager, Software Engineering Req ID FY|R&D|#9 Location(s) Bangalore, India; Work arrangement(s) Hybrid (works from home and New Relic office throughout the week) Your opportunity We are seeking a dynamic Technical Leader / Manager to oversee Machine Learning initiatives within our organization. This role requires a blend of strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a passion for driving innovation in both operational and AI/ML domains. As a pivotal member of our team, you will have the opportunity to shape the technical direction, foster collaboration across departments, and lead high-impact projects that drive business growth. What you'll do Leadership and Team Management Build and lead diverse, engaged teams across Engineering Operations and Machine Learning domains. Mentor engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Attract and retain top talent, promoting diversity and inclusion within the teams. Technical Direction and Strategy Define and drive the technical direction for enabling developer efficiency and effectiveness. Set strategic goals and provide the necessary context, vision, skills, and tools for team success. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify key opportunities and represent team successes. Operational Excellence Develop and iterate on processes and practices to enhance team focus and efficiency. Improve team and software health through regular assessments and proactive measures. Implement DevOps practices for supporting technical environments, including managing on-call rotations. Machine Learning Leadership Lead the end-to-end delivery of machine learning-powered features, including model development, deployment, and scalability. Architect AI platforms to support productionisation of ML models and ensure high availability and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align ML initiatives with company strategy and drive impactful outcomes. This role requires 5+ years of experience leading self-directed, distributed teams in a fast-paced environment, with direct people management. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive decision-making and inspire teams to achieve goals. Proficiency in Agile/Scrum frameworks and tools for project planning and execution. Technical expertise in machine learning, AI, and software engineering, with experience in SaaS environments preferred. Experience with DevOps practices, technical support, and managing on-call rotations. Proven track record of mentoring and developing engineers at various career stages. Familiarity with NLP or Information Retrieval is a plus. Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field, with a focus on machine learning, artificial intelligence, or software engineering. Bonus points if you have Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, and Apache Spark. Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
