Job Description: Surveyor for High-Rise Residential Projects

Position OverviewA Surveyor is pivotal in ensuring precise measurements, defining boundaries, and delivering accurate data throughout the lifecycle of high-rise residential construction projects. The role includes pre-construction planning, on-site layout, monitoring elevation, and preparing detailed documentation to uphold precision, structural integrity, and regulatory compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesInternal Process PerspectiveSite Preparation and Pre-Construction SurveysConduct topographic surveys to map natural terrain, identifying utilities, existing structures, and geographic constraints.Establish accurate property boundaries and ensure alignment with project blueprints to avoid disputes.Setting Out and LayoutPrecisely mark building lines, foundation points, and structural elements as per architectural and engineering plans.Use modern surveying tools (e.g., GPS, total stations) to establish control points, gridlines, and benchmarks.Verify placement and alignment of structural components, ensuring accuracy across vertical and horizontal dimensions.Elevation and Level ControlMonitor and establish elevation benchmarks, ensuring each floor is level and aligned.Regularly inspect and validate structural elements like slabs and beams to avoid cumulative errors.Financial PerspectiveReduce rework costs by ensuring high accuracy in surveying and layouts.Optimize resource utilization by minimizing delays and errors through precise measurements and layouts.Provide data-driven insights to support budgeting for unforeseen topographical or boundary-related challenges.Customer PerspectiveCollaborate with architects and engineers to align surveying outputs with client design specifications.Deliver accurate as-built surveys and documentation, meeting project owners' expectations for transparency and compliance.Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and maintain consistent communication with stakeholders regarding survey updates.People PerspectiveWork closely with cross-functional teams, including construction managers, site supervisors, and contractors, fostering a collaborative work environment.Train and guide junior team members or apprentices in advanced surveying techniques and tools.Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, ensuring all project teams are aligned with updated survey data.Required Skills and CompetenciesExpertise in surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, laser levels, and digital theodolites.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address site-specific challenges.Knowledge of construction methodologies, boundary laws, and high-rise structural principles.Excellent communication and documentation skills for preparing as-built reports and coordinating with stakeholders.Attention to detail and precision in measurements to prevent costly errors.Educational Qualifications and ExperienceEducation

: Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or Surveying.Experience

: 5+ years of experience in surveying, preferably in high-rise residential construction projects.
