The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java 17, frameworks like Spring Boot or Quarkus, and microservices architecture. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services that are robust, scalable, and efficientKey Roles and ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain backend services using Java 17 and Spring Boot / Quarkus.Implement microservices architecture to ensure scalability and maintainability.Develop REST and SOAP APIs.Integrate with databases using ORM frameworks and ensure efficient DB connectivity.Develop and maintain messaging services using JMS and Solace.Ensure seamless API connectivity using platforms such as Kong or Axway.Manage project dependencies and build processes using Maven.Collaborate with the team using Git for version control.Containerize applications using Docker for consistent deployment.Utilize Azure DevOps (ADO) for CI/CD pipelines and project management.Deploy and manage applications on OpenShift and AWS.Implement service virtualization for testing and development.Write and maintain unit tests using JUnit.Conduct integration testing to ensure seamless interaction between components.Document APIs using Swagger.Perform performance testing and scripting to ensure application efficiency using tools like JMeter.Ensure adherence and continuous improvement of Agile practices, coaching and teaching new techniques to the team as needed to achieve optimum productivity.Engage and collaborate with a wide group of technology teams from upstream TP systems, integration, modeling team, database administrators, messaging teams, and architecture.Key Responsibilities StrategyThere is a digital revolution happening that is changing the future of banking - increasingly, Banking is Technology. Standard Chartered Information Technology & Operations (ITO) is looking for individuals interested in using innovative new products and modern technologies to deliver world class digital experiences for our clients and customers.People & Talent6+ years of experience in microservice API development using Java frameworks.Experience in developing and deploying cloud-native applications, with a focus on Function as a Service (FaaS) and Dev-in-a-box solutions.Strong skills in API integration with in-house and third-party vendor applications, including Trading Networks.Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift container platforms.Preferred experience in the banking domain.Knowledge of Postgres or Oracle relational databases.Proficient in Spring Boot and API development.Strong knowledge of Agile Development (CI/CD, TDD/BDD, SCRUM, KanBan).Minimum 10 years of software development experience.Experience with advanced features and tools in the Atlassian software suite.Passion for technology and a collaborative, consultative work environment.Proven skills in coordination, staff management, and leadership with vendors and internal teams.Strong knowledge of risk and regulatory delivery.Comprehensive understanding of software design and development.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong analytical skills.Willingness to work on both development and project management.Contribute to the creation of standards and frameworks for the project.Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Prepare architectural solutions documents and technical audits for the project.Prepare high/low-level technical design documents.Learn and understand relevant application functional and technical architecture for effective development.Follow documented SDLC life cycle as per quality management standards.Participate in requirement gathering and solution meetings.Track overall development and project management.Support developers with technical assistance and improve technical competency levels among team members.Design modules based on technical specifications.Implement best practices.Regulatory & Business ConductDisplay exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
