The Client's Sustaining Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer to help a new team aimed at improving the long-term product experience of their customers. In this role, you will work closely with Product Engineering to deliver extended product maintenance work, including handling bugs and CVEs in extended life streams of the profuct. You'll be actively driving all aspects of product maintenance for a subset of product components focused on software development that goes beyond the normal maintenance phase of product's minor releases. You will contribute to the patch review process, the development and execution of backports and test plans, and the creation of automation tools to improve the efficiency, flexibility, and quality of patch delivery to customers.


Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of new product maintenance offerings, aiming to make Client a global leader in long-term product experience.
  • Drive daily activities of product maintenance engineering teams, serving as a regional and global contributor on product issues
  • Resolve and address critical issues that have an impact on long-term regional or global business success of the product.
  • Work within the product portfolio and assist the delivery of maintenance streams
  • Collaborate with developer and QE counterparts and release engineering teams across the globe to ensure the development and delivery of fixes meet the schedule requirements and high quality standards expected and required by customers
  • Diagnose the root cause of failures
  • Backport CVE and bug fixes to stable release streams
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor tests and onboard automated tests into a continuous integration workflow as much as possible
  • Develop features and bug fixes in Kubernetes(upstream) and OpenShift (downstream) within an agile team and as part of a global development organization.
  • Become responsible for our product quality, continuous integration and delivery, respond to security threats


Qualifications:

  • Expertise in at least one or more programming languages such as Go / Python / Java etc.
  • Good debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Experience committing code at scale on source control structures
  • Multi-tasking skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills with Root Cause Analysis experience
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
