Job Summary

SAP ABAP Expert & BTP/Clean Core Development Specialist

Responsibilities
  • Lead ABAP development using BTP and Clean Core methods to deliver complex, best-practice SAP solutions.
  • Implement clean core principles, including classification of developments according to tier models.
  • Utilize the Restful ABAP Programming Model (RAP) for modern ABAP developments and classic ABAP programming.
  • Apply the Application Extension Methodology (AEM) to decide between on-stack and side-by-side developments.
  • Use and adapt APIs within S/4 and on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
  • Check API availability and technical feasibility using the SAP Business Hub Accelerator.
  • Optimize HANA database accesses and queries.
  • Version, deploy, and test in-house developments in quality assurance and production environments.
  • Perform code reviews, error analyses, and performance optimizations in SAP.
  • Integrate external systems into SAP via interfaces such as OData and RFC (Remote Function Call).
  • Create and maintain custom user interfaces using SAP Fiori and SAPUI5 technologies, ensuring a modern and intuitive user experience.
  • Collaborate with functional consultants and business analysts to translate business requirements into technical solutions and user interface designs.
  • Develop and maintain custom Fiori applications, modify existing Fiori apps, and create responsive web-based user interfaces using SAPUI5.
  • Integrate custom ABAP programs and Fiori applications with other SAP modules and external systems as needed.
  • Utilize SAP BTP services to build and deploy applications, promote, and implement SAP Clean Core principles.
  • Design complex system interfaces, ensuring smooth integration and data consistency across SAP modules and third-party tools.
  • Coordinate with offshore/onshore teams for timely, quality delivery and act as the liaison between technical teams.
  • Manage and review functional and technical specifications, ensuring alignment with business needs and technical feasibility.
  • Provide onsite support throughout the project lifecycle, resolving technical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Work closely with the Basis team to monitor, test, and tune application components for optimized performance and integration.
  • Participate in code reviews and ongoing improvements to development standards and methodologies.
  • Be part of the Agile team and participate in all Agile activities (standups, planning, validations, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert-level ABAP development skills with a minimum of 5+ years of experience.
  • Solid experience in SAP S/4HANA development and optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of clean core principles and their application.
  • Solid understanding of the Restful ABAP Programming Model (RAP) and classic ABAP programming.
  • Experience with the Application Extension Methodology (AEM).
  • Knowledge of using and adapting APIs within S/4 and on the BTP.
  • Experience testing API availability and technical feasibility.
  • Expertise dealing with HANA database access and optimization.
  • Proficient in SAP Fiori and SAPUI5 development, with experience creating modern and responsive user interfaces.
  • Familiarity with SAP's development tools and environments, such as ABAP Workbench, ADT, SAP BAS, and SAP GUI.
  • Experience working with languages (e.g., SAPUI5, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, jQuery).
  • Experience with SAP Web IDE and/or Eclipse IDE and/or HANA Studio.
  • Experience in Fiori Design patterns, expertise in UI Theme designer & understanding of the UI principles.
  • Knowledge of ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC), SQL Monitor & SQL Performance Tuning Worklist (SWLT).
  • Experience with Agile methodology and process.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently as appropriate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or similar preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written (English) communication skills.
  • Experience integrating external systems into SAP via interfaces.
  • Certification in SAP ABAP (e.g., SAP Certified Development Associate - ABAP) or SAP Fiori/SAPUI5 or SAP BTP is a plus.
