Role Overview:

The Manager – Legal will be an integral part of Antara Assisted Care Services' legal team, working closely with internal business functions to manage and support commercial, transactional, and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of post-qualification experience in the healthcare industry, with expertise in contract management, litigation, compliance, and legal research. The role will be focused on supporting the business’s growth in the healthcare and real estate sectors, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations while managing legal risk.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Management:

- Vet, draft, negotiate, and finalize a variety of commercial agreements across sectors such as Healthcare, Real Estate, IT, Marketing, and Advertising in coordination with relevant departments.- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and provide legal advice on contract terms and conditions.

Litigation Management:

- Coordinate with external counsel and manage ongoing litigation, ensuring efficient case handling and timely resolution.- Draft and vet petitions, pleadings, affidavits, counter-affidavits, complaints, and notices.- Maintain an MIS for tracking litigation progress and regularly update senior management.

Licenses and Approvals:

- Identify and manage necessary licenses and approvals required for the operation of healthcare facilities, pharmacies, nursing centers, and medical device manufacturing.- Prepare documentation for filing applications/renewals of licenses and approvals from various government authorities.- Maintain a centralized repository of all relevant licenses and approvals.

Compliance Monitoring:

- Provide guidance on compliance with FSSAI, Legal Metrology, Medical Devices Rules, and other regulations.- Maintain a compliance tracker and support business teams in ensuring ongoing adherence to all applicable laws.- Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure proactive compliance management.

Legal Research:

- Provide day-to-day legal advice on issues raised by internal departments.- Conduct legal research to identify laws, amendments, and potential legal risks affecting Antara’s operations.- Draft memos or position statements to keep senior management informed of legal developments.

Other Legal Functions:

- Provide general legal support in various domains, including healthcare, real estate, and IT, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to address business needs.- Assist in handling disputes, corporate governance matters, and regulatory compliance.

Travel:

- This role may require frequent travel to various facilities, centers, offices, and government departments across India to manage legal matters, file applications, and coordinate with concerned authorities.

Key Requirements:

- Education: Law graduate (LL.B.)- Experience: 5-7 years of post-qualification experience, with a strong background in healthcare, real estate, or a related sector.- Knowledge:- In-depth understanding of commercial laws, regulatory frameworks in the healthcare industry, and legal aspects of healthcare operations.- Familiarity with corporate governance, litigation, compliance, and contracts.- Skills:- Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.- Proficiency in legal research and the ability to manage complex legal issues.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.- Competencies:- A strong commercial-legal balance.- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and conflicting priorities effectively.
