CubeSat Structural Analysis Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Analysis Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the structural design, analysis, and testing of CubeSat structures. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, finite element analysis, and spaceborne structural requirements.


Location: Bengaluru (On-site)


Job-type: Full-time


Responsibilities:

  • Design and Analysis:

Perform detailed structural design and analysis of CubeSat structures using finite element analysis (FEA) tools.

Evaluate structural integrity under various load conditions, including longitudinal, lateral, and vibrational loads.

Optimize designs for weight, strength, and manufacturability.

Design and optimize spacecraft and component structures capable of withstanding launch vehicle and space environments.

Participate in design reviews and provide input on structural and mechanical aspects of the satellite systems.


  • Testing and Validation:

Develop and execute test plans for structural validation, including random vibration, sinusoidal vibration, and other tests to qualify the CubeSat.

Conduct material testing and analysis, focusing on materials like Al-6061-T6 and hard anodization processes.

Correlate FEA models with test results to ensure accuracy and reliability.


  • Documentation and Reporting:

Generate and maintain technical documentation, including design reports, test procedures, and test reports.

Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing and assembly teams.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of structural components with other subsystems.


Experience:

  • Proven experience in structural analysis and design, preferably in the aerospace or satellite industry.
  • Proficiency in FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, NX Nastran). Familiarity with Autodesk Fusion 360 will be useful.
  • Experience with CubeSat structures and spaceborne applications is highly desirable.


Skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and structural analysis techniques.
  • Ability to perform detailed finite element analysis and interpret results.
  • Knowledge of material properties and manufacturing processes relevant to CubeSat structures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to space industry standards (e.g., ECSS, GEVS) will be useful.
  • Familiarity with structural testing methods and equipment.
  • Previous experience in guiding space structures through development phases from requirements generation to manufacturing and testing.
