Job Title: Public Health Specialist (Palliative Care), Defeat-NCD India FoundationAbout Us: Defeat-NCD India Foundation is an Indian chapter of The Defeat-NCD Partnership, and is committed to tackling non-communicable diseases (NCD) across the country, focusing on a wide range of health interventions including prevention, treatment, and palliative care. The Defeat-NCD Partnership was established at the United Nations General Assembly in 2018, our mission aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3.4, aiming to reduce premature mortality from NCD by one-third by 2030. Join us as we strengthen healthcare systems and deliver scalable, community-focused health solutions.Role Overview: As a Public Health Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting and implementing health initiatives, beginning with a establishment of palliative care projects in several states within India. This position requires demonstrated expertise in public health, including in palliative care, strong project management skills, track record in resource mobilisation, and a commitment to extensive duty travel across locations such as Maharashtra, Goa, Delhi, Karnataka, Telangana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and other parts of India. You will lead project setup, manage on-site implementation, and engage with prospective donors to secure resources for expanding impactful health programs.Key Responsibilities:Proposal Writing and Donor Engagement: Draft detailed project proposals for a variety of health initiatives and pitch them to prospective donors, with a focus on attracting increased corporate social responsibility funds.Project Implementation and Management: Lead the establishment and management of various health projects, beginning with a palliative care initiative, ensuring programme objectives align with national health policies and community needs.Policy and Strategy Development: Contribute to policy formation and strategic planning for NCD and palliative care initiatives, ensuring alignment with state and national health priorities.Monitoring and Evaluation: Design indicators to monitor programne success, establish data collection systems, and provide regular evaluation reports for stakeholders and donors.Capacity Building: Develop and deliver training for healthcare providers and community volunteers, focusing initially on palliative care skills and expanding to other health areas.Outreach and Community Engagement: Cultivate relationships with community organizations, local health authorities, and stakeholders to promote public health initiatives and improve programme visibility.Multi-Project Coordination: Oversee multiple health projects, ensuring smooth integration of services across NCD prevention, treatment, and palliative care for maximum impact.Qualifications:Education: Advanced degree in public health;

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Specialization in palliative care is required.Experience: At least 5 years in public health programme management, with experience in NCD projects, health systems strengthening, and palliative care.Skills: Strong technical writing, project management, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement skills. Proven ability to manage complex, multi-faceted health projects and foster collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.Travel Requirement: Willingness and ability to travel frequently within India to support project sites, engage with stakeholders, and oversee programme implementation.Languages: Fluency in English and proficiency in one or more regional languages to support effective community engagement.Why Join Us?
