Senior Engineer Signaling

Role Summary
To independently check and review signalling design drawings as instructed and commensurate with own knowledge of First Signalling principles and experience. In addition to produce design drawings where specialist knowledge is required and when directed by the Design Manager.
To act as an Engineering Consultant when required.
To assist in the training of signalling staff including acting as a mentor.
To act as independent checker as directed.
Responsibilities
Extensive knowledge of Australia Rail signalling standards (QR and ARTC), equipment, systems and processes and a wide experience of signalling design.
Undertake complex design and independent verification of design of signalling systems that is compliant with technical, safety environmental and quality standards.
To produce integrated design details and supporting documentation using first principles for relevant parts of a new or altered signalling system.
To undertake complex signalling design with minimal rework in accordance with signalling design competency.
To produce signalling specifications and other relevant documentation
Conform to internal corporate rules, processes and/or procedures.
Adhere to all statutory regulations, client standards or specifications where appropriate.
To undertake risk assessments and analysis using the appropriate tools and methods required.
To produce and verify signalling design details of Signalling Plans, Control tables, location designs, cable core plans, bonding plans, power schematics and interlocking wiring, CB designs, in CBI, SSI and RRI area.
To act as a mentor to member/members of the signalling design staff as directed.

level-2 Australian Railway competencies (ARTC, QR etc.,)
Signalling IRSE Designer License - 1.1.510
Signalling Design Verifier – 1.1.160
Registration with the IRSE is desirable
CAD literate in AutoCAD/Microstation
Qualifications
The post holder should be educated in Engineering degree in Electrical/Electronics/Electronics and communication Engineering.
Broad experience of interlocking design and signalling scheme development including signalling overrun risk assessments
Minimum 6+ years of experience on the Railway Signalling of which at least 3 years’ experience on the International Main line projects is essential
Extensive design knowledge in Australian Standards and Knowledge of Signalling procedures/standards
