Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Azure & AWS)

Location: Pune

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Infrastructure & Cloud team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving SRE principles, automation, reliability engineering , and cloud-native observability across Azure and AWS environments . You will work with cross-functional teams to build and maintain resilient, scalable, and highly available systems, driving operational excellence through engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

SRE Practice Leadership

  • Champion SRE principles (SLI/SLO/SLA, Error Budgets, Toil Reduction) and instill a culture of reliability engineering.
  • Establish and monitor Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Objectives (SLOs) across critical services.
  • Define and drive error budgets , reliability KPIs, and postmortem processes.

Cloud Infrastructure & Reliability

  • Manage and optimize production workloads on Azure and AWS .
  • Design and implement resilient, scalable architectures across cloud platforms.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM templates, CloudFormation, or Bicep.
  • Apply chaos engineering, load testing, and fault injection to validate system resiliency.

Monitoring, Observability & Incident Management

  • Implement end-to-end observability using tools like Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, New Relic , etc.
  • Define and automate alerting, logging, and distributed tracing strategies.
  • Lead major incident response efforts and blameless postmortems.
  • Establish runbooks and SOPs for high-severity incidents.

Automation & DevOps Integration

  • Automate repetitive operational tasks using Python, PowerShell, or Go.
  • Work with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI) to integrate reliability gates.
  • Integrate SRE practices into developer workflows and DevSecOps processes.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure infrastructure adheres to security, governance, and compliance standards.
  • Implement guardrails and automated policies using tools like Azure Policy, AWS Config, Sentinel, or OPA/Gatekeeper .

Required Skills & Experience:

Core Skills

  • 8–12 years of experience in DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or SRE roles .
  • Strong expertise in Azure and AWS infrastructure (VMs, storage, networking, AKS/EKS, load balancers, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of SRE principles and production-grade reliability patterns.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform is mandatory).
  • Strong in scripting languages like Python, Bash, PowerShell .

Tooling & Platforms

  • Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Monitoring & Observability: Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins
  • Configuration Management: Ansible, Chef, or Puppet (nice to have)

Soft Skills

  • Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle on-call rotations and incident bridges under pressure.
  • Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications:
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator / Azure DevOps Expert
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer
  • Experience with container orchestration (AKS, EKS, or Kubernetes in general).
  • Familiarity with FinOps and cloud cost optimization techniques.
