If 75 percent of the time is spent performing a specific engineering function, use that family for your job matches.Job DescriptionThe role of Systems Design/Architecture Engineer is responsible for designing systems architecture. This position conducts system design activities to ensure that architectural solutions meet technical and functional requirements. The Systems Design/Architecture Engineer conducts architectural analysis, evaluation, and designs systems that support and seek to solve complex business and technical problems.Key Role and Responsibilities:Conduct system design activitiesReview detailed application, software and system components across a variety of technology stacksEnsure that architectural solutions meet technical and functional requirementsReview existing system architecture and recommend improvementsParticipate in engineering reviews to determine any ambiguitiesInvestigate and scope change requests to determine the scale of work to be done and estimate the timeframe and input requiredDetermine system loads and volumes as input into infrastructure requirementsEnsure that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with the companys goals and strategiesEnable the design and development of new systems and solutionsEnsure that new systems and solutions conform to current system architecture and/or align to strategic system architectural directionConduct architectural analysis, evaluation, and design of systems that support and seek to solve complex business and technical problemsEnable and ensure that system architecture is delivered in the form of robust and scalable solutions to business problems and needsIdentify, evaluate, and assess risks in order to mitigate them and eliminate any factor that may interfere or hinder the delivery of the architectural solution and dependent functional requirementsSpecify the solutions functional and technical requirements, and implementation phases required in order to deliver on and solve complex business problemsImplement processes for integrating architectural solutionsImplement architectural governance, standards, metrics for measuring, monitoring and improving architectureImplement and/or maintain the use of fitness functions to ensure architectural successProactively identify potential problems that could be remediated by more effective architectural solutionsEnsure team members understand system architectural implications of requirementsKnowledge, skills and attributes:Strong communication and organisational skillsSound business acumenAbility to effectively deal with stakeholders in challenging situations.Ability to navigate through complexity and ambiguityStrong understanding of system architecture, design, and deliveryUnderstanding of regulatory requirements and organisational standards including securityKnowledge of the system design life cycle modelsAbility to design systems compatible with cloud computing architectures and selection of componentsAbility to design and select system componentsPlanning and decision-making skillsGood verbal and written communication skillsAbility to use a variety of design toolsAbility to problem-solve and apply critical thinkingAcademic Qualifications and Certifications:Bachelors degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science or related etc.Relevant certifications requiredExperience required:Demonstrated experience in similar IT roles, with a focus on system design / architecture engineeringProven working experience in a large-scale organisationDemonstrated experience, judgment and drive to plan, make decisions and accomplish individual and team goalsDemonstrated experience with software development lifecyclesDemonstrated experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
