We are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering with a strong background in backend, frontend and middleware technologies. The ideal candidate will have over 15 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. As head of engineering, you will be responsible for guiding our development teams, managing multiple projects, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Java developers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional development of team members.
  • Facilitate effective communication within the team and with other departments.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle for Java-based projects, from requirement analysis to deployment.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Allocate resources effectively and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Technical Expertise:

  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance Java applications.
  • Stay updated with the latest Java technologies, frameworks, and tools, and implement best practices.
  • Perform code reviews, ensure code quality, and maintain coding standards.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to senior management and other stakeholders.

Problem Solving:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team in solving challenging problems.

Additionally:

  • Provide leadership vision enterprise-wide via decisive and insightful executive leadership, guiding daily operations and policy implementation through strategic thinking and decision-making.
  • Known for seamlessly coordinating and collaborating with internal organizations and third-party partners.
  • Build and lead high-performance teams to manage, implement and streamline complex technology designs.
  • Define the digital architecture and leading technology development including powerful combinations of emerging and disruptive technologies.


Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on Java.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership or team lead role.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering complex software projects.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Java, with a deep understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
  • Experience with Java, .Net frameworks and technologies such as Spring, Hibernate, and Maven.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
  • Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and RESTful web services.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with ReactJS.
  • Experience with DevOps.
