Role SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Python Developer with 4+ years of experience to build and optimize trading-related backend systems for a global financial client. The role involves building real-time, scalable services using Python, FastAPI, containerized workloads, cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure), and real-time messaging protocols like Kafka and FIX/FIXP-SBE. The engineer will work closely with QA, DevOps, and business teams and leverage AI tools to enhance productivity. This role is ideal for hands-on contributors who bring core backend strengths and the ability to grow into distributed systems architecture roles over time.Must-Have Skills & Required DepthSkillRequired DepthPython (incl. sockets, multithreading)Must have deep contributor-level expertise in Python 3.x. Should have implemented TCP socket-based modules (e.g., for order entry or FIX engine integration), worked with multithreading (e.g., threading, asyncio), and written production-grade code.FastAPIShould have delivered end-to-end RESTful APIs using FastAPI, including request validation, routing, and async support. Familiarity with FastAPI’s dependency injection and OpenAPI documentation is expected.Cloud Platform (GCP/AWS/Azure)Must have hands-on experience deploying services to at least one public cloud (e.g., App Engine, ECS, AKS). Should understand service accounts, IAM, monitoring logs, and basic infra scripting. GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) preferred .DockerMust have built and deployed multi-container apps. Should know Dockerfile optimization, layered image strategies, and secure secrets handling.HelmShould have written and deployed Helm charts, understood templating logic, values.yaml structure, and release management best practices.KafkaMust have knowledge with Kafka as producer/consumer, understood offset handling, basic topic configuration, and consumer group patterns. Not required to manage Kafka clusters.FIX/FIXP-SBEExposure to parsing and sending messages via FIX/FIXP using TCP/IP or similar protocols. Understanding of tag-value encoding and session management expected.LinuxComfortable with CLI commands, file permissions, log reading (journalctl, dmesg), shell scripting (bash/python).CS FundamentalsShould be able to apply data structures and algorithms in backend logic and performance tuning. Prior use of hashmaps, priority queues, tree traversal, or caching patterns preferred.Code Reviews (PRs)Must have actively participated in PR workflows, including merge request reviews, commenting for modularity, and catching logic flaws.AI Productivity ToolsBonus if candidate has used GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools to auto-generate boilerplate, refactor, or analyze logs.Depth RequiredArgo CD / KustomizeExposure only.
