Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the collection, storage, and maintenance of all patient medical records.

Ensure accurate and timely entry of patient data into the hospitals records system.

Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

Ensure adherence to hospital policies, legal requirements, and healthcare regulations for medical records.

Conduct regular audits of medical records to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant standards.

Manage the archiving and safe disposal of obsolete medical records as per policy.

Supervise and train MRD staff on proper records management techniques and system usage.

Assign duties and manage workflow to ensure the department operates efficiently.

Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback to foster a productive work environment.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure the smooth flow of information between the MRD and clinical departments.

Respond to requests from legal, insurance, and administrative personnel regarding medical records.

Ensure the medical records system is updated with the latest technological advancements.

Troubleshoot issues related to the electronic health record (EHR) system and liaise with IT for system upgrades or repairs.
