Roles and Responsibilities

  • Internal Control Framework: Develop and maintain an effective internal control framework for the finance function within the steel industry. This includes defining control objectives, assessing risks, and establishing control procedures and policies.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and assess financial and operational risks within the steel industry. Conduct risk assessments to determine the potential impact and likelihood of risks, and develop mitigation strategies and control measures to minimize risks.
  • Control Implementation: Design and implement control procedures and processes to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. This may involve developing and documenting control activities, segregation of duties, and authorization processes.
  • Digitisation: Study the control process and digitise wherever needed.
  • GRC & ITCG : To implement GRC guidelines and IT control system in the organisation.
  • Financial Process Reviews: Conduct periodic reviews of financial processes and transactions to evaluate the effectiveness of controls. Identify control gaps, deficiencies, and potential areas of fraud or error. Recommend and implement improvements to strengthen controls and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. Perform regular audits and control testing to ensure adherence to established control procedures. Investigate and resolve any identified control violations or non-compliance issues.
  • Training and Awareness: Provide training and guidance to finance personnel on internal control policies and procedures. Raise awareness about the importance of internal controls, fraud prevention, and ethical behavior within the steel industry.
  • Internal Audit Coordination: Collaborate with internal audit teams to support their activities and provide necessary documentation and information. Address any findings or recommendations from internal audits related to finance and internal controls.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports on the effectiveness of internal controls, highlighting control weaknesses, identified risks, and recommendations for improvement. Maintain documentation of control procedures, policies, and test results.
  • Systems and Technology: Evaluate the adequacy and reliability of financial systems and technology used within the steel industry. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure proper controls are in place to safeguard financial data and mitigate cyber risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes related to internal controls. Continuously assess and enhance the internal control environment to adapt to evolving business needs and minimize control risks.

Degree/ Qualifications
