Job Title:

Unit Billing Head

The Head of Billing will work closely with the hospital leadership team to ensure that all protocols laid down in the billing section are adhered to, thus ensuring great patient service. The head of billing would also lay down processes and SoPs to maximize revenue and achieve cost maximization.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES & DELIVERABLESExcellent understanding of health care billing, customer service and credit patients deciding on treatment and retention viability.Strong communication, teamwork & team building skills with adeptness at grasping.Provide courteous services to patient and respond promptly, attending tactfully to his/her request or inquiries and solve the queries of patients with Insurance & other companies.Controlling Revenue leakage to the organization by keeping adherence to the agreed tariff by the organization, set out tariff with transcribing and coding patient care information as applicable.Ensure the billing department carries out all its activities in accordance with its overall protocols, and also that they complied with respective payer, State rules, requirements, regulations, and guidelines.Directing a team, ensuring the smooth flow of operations, coordination with management and other cross functional departments.Monitoring of 100% Service updation in order to facilitate the advance collection and case sheet verification at the time of discharge.Monitoring and necessary guidance to the credit/insurance desk & PRE’s to obtain Letter of Approvals for Costly medication and treatment in a timely manner.Reduction in bill preparation time to

Consistent conversations with consultants to ensure accuracy in bill preparation, and obtaining their inputs, discuss with management and act as bridge between both.Monitoring and analysis of concessions and Private credits as per SOP with mandatory approvals and records maintenance for audit. Also provide inputs to management to reduce.Developing and implementing Process tools and monitoring mechanism in order to facilitate reduction in Disallowance rate (self-target - be

Action on the disallowed bills, rectifying the issue raised by enclosing documents and writing explanations to concerned corporates.Timely compliance of audit observations given by IMA and External auditors.Monitor and review registration, admission, billing and discharge process and submit MIS reports as required and any other assignments given by managementCoordinating all the departments in order to achieve smooth

functioning of the hospital.Ensuring the queries and return bills resolutions in timely manner with credit billing team in addressing the issue and re-submitting the same in a less time.Monitoring the online submission sites, coordinating with respective unit’s credit billing team and helping them in resolving the same in a reduced amount of time.Compliance of credit billing process as per checklist for all companies is in place and followed.Maintaining the records for documentation as per SOP guidelines.Strong proficiency in the use of Word, Outlook, Excel, and other Microsoft Office tools.Maintains confidentiality of all financial and personal information.Training billing associates on departmental best practices.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEGraduate in hospital management with a passion to drive systems for comprehensive healthcare.10-12 years’ experience in billing processes, strongly preferred in a hospital set-up, with 2-3 years’ experience as HoD Billing.Should be good in people management, processes and systems.Should be a good business leader, capable of effective interface with internal and external customers and stakeholdersShould have good administrative exposure.Should have excellent team building skills and team membership in the DNA.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREASEvaluate each bill at function level & counter sign on the same ensuring the accuracy, measured by IMA periodic reports.Credit bills, preparation and submission within TAT complying with accuracy and 0 errors.
