Job Overview:

The Red Hat OpenShift Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure OpenShift environments. This role involves working closely with cybersecurity and IT teams to support container orchestration, implement security measures, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

OpenShift Administration:

  • Install, configure, and manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of OpenShift environments.

Security Implementation:

  • Implement security best practices for containerized applications.
  • Configure network policies, role-based access control (RBAC), and security contexts.

Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Monitor the performance and health of OpenShift clusters.
  • Optimize resource utilization and scale environments as needed.

Incident Response:

  • Respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities in OpenShift environments.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective measures.

Automation and Scripting:

  • Develop automation scripts using Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
  • Automate deployment and management processes for efficiency.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cybersecurity, DevOps, and development teams to ensure secure deployment practices.
  • Provide guidance on container security and best practices.

Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure OpenShift environments comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Documentation:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of OpenShift configurations, processes, and security measures.
  • Prepare detailed reports on environment status and security.

Training and Support:

  • Provide training and support to team members on OpenShift and container security.
  • Ensure users understand their roles in maintaining security.

Technology Evaluation:

  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance OpenShift security.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in container security.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience in managing Red Hat OpenShift environments.
  • Strong background in containerization and cybersecurity.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency with OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • Deep understanding of container security principles and practices.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and scripting languages like Python or Bash.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Certifications:
  • Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, CKA, or equivalent are preferred.
