Senior Engineer, Database Administration

Position Overview: The Database Team Member should possess a robust understanding of SQL and various database platforms, including both relational and NoSQL databases. They will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and performance of databases.



Key Responsibilities

  • :Analyze and track database requirements and tasks
  • .Coordinate with Engineering and Quality Assurance teams for successful development, testing, and deployment
  • .Develop, design, and administer database functionalities using T-SQL
  • .Unit test database functionalities and document them using Confluence
  • .Verify database deployments and troubleshoot database build issues through TeamCity
  • .Interact with customers and participate in business and system requirements sessions
  • .Provide database support for critical business operations and resolve reported issues within SLAs
  • .Review pull requests and optimize SQL code submitted by developers
  • .Create purge and archiving routines/procedures
  • .Actively monitor databases to troubleshoot production issues and identify optimization opportunities
  • .Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution
  • .Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and write documentation
  • .Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours


.Skills and Qualifications

  • :Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
  • .Work exposure with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, CloudSQL, Couchbase, and Elasticsearch, both On-Premises and on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • .Proficiency in T-SQL, including index tuning and database security management
  • .Ability to understand and utilize execution plans effectively
  • .Excellent communication and client interfacing skills, both verbal and written
  • .Experience with SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), Integration Services (SSIS), and Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • .Familiarity with NoSQL databases for specific use cases
  • .Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • .Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
