Snowflake Data Engineer

Job Summary Synechron is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Snowflake Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our Snowflake data platform, ensuring efficient data integration, storage, and retrieval to support business insights and decision-making. Your expertise will enable the organization to leverage data effectively through optimized data pipelines, adherence to governance standards, and proactive performance management. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and continuous enhancement of data solutions will be key to supporting strategic business objectives. Software Requirements Required: Snowflake platform (latest features and best practices) SQL proficiency for data modeling and query optimization ETL/ELT tools: Apache Airflow, Fivetran, or similar workflows orchestrators Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP (integration with Snowflake) Scripting languages: Python, Bash Version control: Git Data governance, security policies, and compliance tools Preferred: Snowflake certifications (e.g., SnowPro) CI/CD tools for data deployment workflows Knowledge of other big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) Overall Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes utilizing Snowflake and associated tools Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and craft scalable solutions Implement best practices for data security, compliance, and performance tuning within Snowflake environments Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to ensure robustness, accuracy, and timeliness of data delivery Automate data processing workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, pipelines, and processes Stay current with new Snowflake features and industry best practices, recommending improvements and innovations Participate in testing, deployment, and code reviews to ensure high-quality data solutions Technical Skills (By Category) Programming Languages (Essential): Python, Bash Databases / Data Management: Snowflake (core platform) Data modeling techniques, schema design, performance optimization within Snowflake Cloud Technologies: Cloud platform integration with Snowflake: AWS, GCP, or Azure Frameworks and Libraries: Snowflake connectors, Python libraries for data processing (e.g., Snowflake Connector for Python) Development Tools and Methodologies: ETL/ELT orchestration: Apache Airflow, Fivetran, or equivalent Version control: Git CI/CD pipelines for data deployments (preferred) Security Protocols (Preferred): Data encryption, access controls, data masking in Snowflake Security compliance and data governance standards Experience Requirements 4 to 10 years of experience working as a data engineer or similar role, with significant exposure to Snowflake Proven experience designing and managing ETL/ELT data pipelines in cloud environments Hands-on experience with cloud data platform integrations (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices in data warehousing Previous experience working with data stakeholders, translating requirements into scalable data solutions Day-to-Day Activities Develop, test, and deploy data pipelines and workflows aligned with business needs and governance standards Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to understand complex data requirements and deliver solutions Optimize and troubleshoot existing data workflows for efficiency and reliability Automate routine processes to improve operational workflows and reduce manual effort Monitor system performance and implement enhancements for speed and scalability Conduct code reviews, participate in deployment planning, and document technical solutions Stay active in learning new Snowflake features, tools, and industry trends to recommend continuous improvements Engage with cross-functional teams to support data initiatives and resolve data issues promptly Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline; Master’s is preferred Relevant certifications such as SnowPro Certification or equivalent are advantageous Proven track record of data engineering in cloud-based data warehousing environments Continuous learning mindset with interest in advancing skills in cloud data platforms and governance Professional Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on scalable data solutions Ability to interpret complex data requirements and translate them into technical specifications Excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders Organizational skills to manage multiple projects with evolving priorities Proactive approach to identifying improvements and automating workflows Commitment to data security, governance, and industry compliance standards Diversity & Inclusion are fundamental to our culture, and Synechron is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
