We are seeking an experienced and pragmatic lead engineer with a proven track record and excellent software engineering skills who is looking to work with exceptional people, and grow with iWarranty as it becomes a global enterprise.
Role
You will be joining a startup with big plans on an ambitious timeline. Working closely with our CTO and Head of Engineering you will be responsible for the happiness of our customers through the building, deployment and maintenance of our full software stack.
Wearing many hats, as well as being an expert in your field you'll need to be a generalist in many others. You'll play a pivotal role in building a brave and cohesive engineering team that aligns with our company culture and values; one that communicates effectively across the entire business. Recruitment and mentoring will play a major part of your day as we scale the team for global reach.
Joining an early stage startup means your role will change significantly over a short period of time. Initially you will have influence and input in all aspects of the engineering team. It will be hands-on. From system design, sprint planning to coding front and backend, infrastructure planning, implementation and monitoring.
As we grow, the hands-on requirements will diminish and your role will evolve towards the big picture aspect of a fast growing, global technology business. Opportunities will present themselves for career progression; we will ensure nothing gets in your way to go as far as your ambition desires.
Requirements
About you
Agile and fast moving development cycles come naturally; for you programming is a way of life. You celebrate your love of solving problems, happily digging deep for complex solutions but always cognisant of the bigger picture and the ultimate goals for our organisation.
Whilst planning and building for the medium term you'll understand and be able to manage a dynamic near term environment, responding to commercial opportunities as they arise.
Team building and mentoring are second nature. With a keen eye for nascent talent and getting the most from a limited resource, you'll know the time to write new code versus bringing in external resources.
Desirable
  • Experience working in a startup and building a team around you
  • Experience of commercial B2B integrations from planning to delivery will be an advantage
  • A keen interest in and opinions on all things AI, Blockchain and Web3
  • Experience building, deploying and managing a Google Cloud Platform infrastructure
  • Commercial Android and iOS app development experience

Essential
  • A programming polyglot including Typescript and one other high performance language
  • experience with node.js & typescript + non-relational databases, and ideally experience in cloud based backend setups
  • Prior experience in integration with Shopify, WooCommerce, Stipe and other online retail platforms
  • Hybrid or fully remote with travel to Luxembourg and London. This could be 3-6 months or 1 year
  • At least 5 years industry experience as a senior software engineer
  • At least 2 years experience as a team leader
  • Demonstrable portfolio of software engineering skills
  • Operational knowledge of a product build from inception to launch and global scale up
  • Web framework expertise including React
  • BaaS experience including Firebase or Amplify
  • Devops skills from cloud services to bare metal hardware
  • Prior experience leading code reviews, product planning and execution
  • Development experience of data-rich SaaS platforms
