Job Description:

Data Engineers build and maintain data systems in support of data analytics and data science activities.The Data Engineer will implement methods to improve data reliability, data quality, and ensure success in data-driven initiatives.This position within IT Data & Analytics is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing solutions that support reliable and efficient extraction of data from source systems and loading of that data into analytic platforms.The Data Engineer will help administer data platforms and consult with data analysts and data scientists on process optimization and data quality improvements. At client, we are building a community of Data & Analytics professionals with an emphasis on collaboration and cross-functional support. You will have the opportunity to work closely with your peers throughout the organization toward a vision of data driven strategy.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Gain core business understanding of client aviation and aircraft design, operation, and supportQuery, clean, transform, and stage data (ETL/ELT) across on-prem and cloud environmentsSupport data analytics and data science activities by implementing, maintaining, and optimizing production ready data pipelinesInstall and update software to ensure data platform continuityAdminister a CI/CD compliant code repository during development and update activitiesResearch and lead implementation of new technologies to support analytics functionInterface with other data professionals throughout the organization to embrace cross functional growth in analytics capabilitiesWork to improve data quality by leading data governance efforts in creating and maintaining data quality standardsPlan and execute projects according to established milestones and schedulesConduct project/program briefings to management and end usersDevelop and lead training for users in data & analytic tools and processes per best practices and compliance standardsContribute to the resolution of service tickets pertaining to data infrastructureServe as an internal consultant to business leaders by advising on system capabilitiesProvide technical leadership and mentoring to other Data & Analytics professionalsTECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Strong programming skills in SQL (other OOP languages also preferred)Familiarity with Python, Java, or other OOP languagesAbility to create and schedule data pipelines (i.e. Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, etc)Experience with on-premise data warehouses and/or data lakes (i.e. Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA etc)Experience with cloud data lake/warehouse tech (i.e. Azure, Databricks, AWS, Snowflake etc)Familiarity with big data parallel processing frameworks such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, Dask, is preferredLinux and Windows OS experience including the command lineExperience with server and software administrationComfortable with CI/CD processes in Github, Azure DevOps etc.Familiar with software development lifecycle, including waterfall, agile, and DevOps methodologiesADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES:

Microsoft Azure certification is a plusExceptional communication (verbal, written) skillsAction oriented and seizes opportunitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsQuickly grasps new concepts when faced with unfamiliar tasksProfessional and diplomatic demeanorTeam playerShould be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of the teamAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyCross cultural work experienceGood Problem solving skillsEffective time and priority management"TekWissen
