Role Description A welder for a Fire Services company is responsible for fabricating, installing, and repairing metal components for fire suppression systems and emergency vehicles. The role requires strict adherence to blueprints, industry standards, and safety protocols to ensure the integrity and reliability of critical fire safety equipment.  Job summary The welder will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings and welding specifications to produce high-quality, precise welds on metal structures for fire systems. This includes working on fire suppression systems, fire trucks, and other related safety equipment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in various welding techniques, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to produce structurally sound work.  Key responsibilities Fabrication and installation Fabricate and assemble metal components, including pipes, brackets, and supports, based on blueprints and specifications. Install, assemble, and repair mechanical piping systems for fire sprinkler and fire hydrant systems. Work with a variety of materials such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Operational duties Operate welding machinery (MIG, TIG, etc.), plasma cutters, and other metal fabrication tools. Set up and maintain welding equipment, ensuring all tools are in safe and proper working order. Work in various positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead. Coordinate with engineers, pipefitters, and other team members to ensure projects are completed on schedule.  Quality and safety Inspect completed welds to ensure structural integrity and compliance with welding codes and quality standards. Follow all fire, health, and safety regulations, including wearing and maintaining appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Test welded pipes and systems for leaks using liquid or air pressure. Ensure the work area is clean and free of combustible materials.  Education and experience Proven experience as a welder Relevant welding certification is required. Demonstrated experience with specific techniques like MIG and TIG welding may be preferred
