Job Role - Tier 3 Network Provisioning & Activation Specialist/Engineer /Technician
Domain - Telecommunications and Information Technology
Tier 3 Network team is responsible for managing activation related issues including all Layer 3 activation activities including customer self-activation, attended activation, prebuilds, hot cuts and changes. This includes setting up routing protocols, subnetting, IP address allocation and managing traffic between different subnets/networks. This require careful and diligent planning and coordination with 3rd Party Access Providers, prepping the circuit for the activation, and coordinating with the client and Order Management. This also includes support for calls from Customers and internal stakeholder escalation support.
•Responsible for managing and resolving activation related issues across non-managed products (PIP, Ethernet, VoIP, etc.)
•Activate circuit ensuring the configuration matches with Customer during scheduled activations/hot-cuts as per design/process layout
•Validate wiring connections & schedule dispatches with field operations
•Responsible for ensuring change requests are deployed and completed
• Close order post scheduled activation/hot-cut
Knowledge
• Provisioning process, Telephone, Internet, Data, Service Activation
• Knowledge in switch and router configuration
• Knowledge in networking concepts (ports and protocols) - DNS, DHCP, IP, PIP, TCP and OSI model, routing, switching, subnetting and network topologies
• Knowledge of Swith configuration, ports, access ports, trunk ports and port security and spanning tree protocols (STP, RSTP, MSTP)
• Knowledge in Access - Ethernet, Broadband (DSL, cable), 5G, and Local Loop (e.g., T1, E1, or fiber optic connections
• Knowledge in WLAN, VLAN, SDWAN tagging and configuration
• Thorough understanding of concepts of 3rd Party Access, SLAs, Monitoring, Remote Troubleshooting, and customer support processes associated with network access services.
Network Circuit Provisioning | Semi-Technical Roles
Ideal job for candidates that have an experience working for a US-based Telecom B2B (preferably) in the fixed-line process for any of the following Clients: Verizon, AT&T, Charter Communications (Spectrum), Century Link (Lumen), Comcast, Cox Communications, Frontier Communications, Windstream, Sprint-T-Mobile, C Spire, Charter Communications, BTGlobal Services, Deutsche Telecom, Orange, Vodafone, KPN, Swisscom, Telecom Italia, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio.
Provisioning team is responsible for the completion of Provisioning of a Network Circuit Order and its components: Access, Transport and CPE as applicable. There are few stages in the life of a Network Circuit order: Design and assign > Delivery Management > Test and install before the order is ready for the logical activation of Layer 1 to Layer 3.
Your primary role in this function is to work with multiple ordering and provisioning applications that have rule-based workflows and work steps that drive the flow of an order from one stage to another; your will be managing the Network Circuit order through the various stages where automation has failed. There are two primary roles in this function and both are semi-technical:
Design & Assign, Order & Delivery Management
The roles require careful and diligent planning and coordination with 3rd Party Local Telecom Access Providers ( towards prepping the circuit for the activation, jeopardy management and coordinating with the client in resolving roadblocks through coordination and crisp templatized documentation with other internal stakeholders who manage the customer interactions such as Project implementation, Order Management. Your role will involve interactions (emails, tickets/tasks and calls) from 3 rd party Local Telecom Access Providers and internal departments.
The proactive Delivery Management (DM) ensures timely receipt of updates from Third Party Access Providers (FOC or Firm Order Commitment Date), and updates relevant systems accordingly. The DM escalates whenever delivery is not fulfilled as required or if there are issues that could delay the install of service.
Responsibilities:
Perform order and sometimes technical components of the order to ensure Customers’ network and site readiness is in line with the services being ordered
Complete the system-driven Network circuit design such as equipment port slotting and mapping and updating records in the corresponding inventory and provisioning systems
Address order automation fallout including verification & approve correct system-built network design, Automated Service Request and/or other subtending orders
Track, manage, and resolve all Third-Party Access Provider related activities, milestones, & escalations
Build closer working relationships with Third-Party Access Providers through daily interactions
Ensure all exceptions/issues are documented, corrected/resolved in a timely manner to ensure the order is completed by the Customer Due Date (CDD)
Track, manage, and drive all components needed for network readiness
Provide performance input to enable client conduct carrier performance management reviews.
Skills and Qualifications
Good knowledge of Telecommunications and familiar with working with Telcos – Fixed Line
Good command over English language/good verbal and non-verbal communication skills
Basic knowledge of Networking Infrastructure - Hubs, Switches, Routers (mainly Layer 1 & 2 devices)
Very good with Task management:
Attention to Detail
Ability to follow instructions and logical tasks
Ability to remember and organize follow-up tasks
Ability to Document tasks and actions for order reviews and updates
Ability to coordinate with others in ensuring task completion
Excellent computer system proficiency skills with working & navigating across multiple applications
