Job Description: Professor & Head of Department (HOD) - Product Design/Industrial Design/UI UX/Game Design/Communication Design

Location: Dehradun, India

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Professor & Head of Department (HOD) for our Product Design/Industrial Design department. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, industry experience, and a passion for leading and nurturing the next generation of designers. The candidate should have a proven track record in academia and a degree from a Tier 1 Design School.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Administration:

- Lead the Product Design/Industrial Design department, managing faculty, resources, and curriculum development.- Develop and implement departmental strategies aligned with the university's goals and objectives.- Foster a collaborative environment and encourage innovation in design education.

1. Teaching & Mentorship:

- Deliver high-quality instruction in Product Design/Industrial Design courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.- Mentor and guide students in their academic and professional development, including supervision of projects, theses, and dissertations.- Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate them into the curriculum.

1. Research & Development:

- Pursue research activities and contribute to the body of knowledge in Product Design/Industrial Design.- Publish in reputable journals, present at conferences, and contribute to the university's research profile.- Collaborate with industry partners on research projects and innovative design solutions.

1. Industry Engagement:

- Establish and maintain strong ties with industry professionals and organizations to enhance the department's reputation and provide students with real-world exposure.- Organize workshops, seminars, and guest lectures with industry experts.

1. Curriculum Development:

- Continuously assess and improve the curriculum to ensure it meets the evolving needs of the design industry.- Introduce new courses and programs that reflect emerging trends and technologies in Product Design/Industrial Design.

1. Quality Assurance:

- Ensure the highest standards of academic quality and integrity within the department.- Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to improve teaching methodologies and student outcomes.

Qualifications:

- A PhD in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field from a Tier 1 Design School (e.g., NID, IDC, IIT, etc.).- A minimum of 10 years of teaching and research experience in a reputed academic institution.- Proven leadership experience in an academic setting, preferably in a similar role.- Strong portfolio of design work and research publications.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Industry experience in Product Design/Industrial Design.- Experience in curriculum development and academic administration.- A network of contacts within the design industry and academia.
