Job Overview:

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our services and infrastructure. You will be responsible for building and maintaining automation tools, monitoring systems, and troubleshooting issues in a complex production environment. Your focus will be on enhancing the availability, scalability, and efficiency of our services through proactive monitoring, incident response, and automation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • System Reliability:  Monitor and maintain the reliability and uptime of services, applications, and infrastructure. Implement and maintain Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs).
  • Automation:  Develop and implement tools to automate manual operational tasks, streamline deployments, and reduce toil.
  • Incident Management:  Respond to and resolve production incidents, ensuring prompt restoration of services and minimizing downtime. Conduct post-incident reviews to identify and mitigate root causes.
  • Performance Optimisation:  Identify and address performance bottlenecks in the infrastructure, applications, and services. Work with engineering teams to ensure the scalability and performance of our platforms.
  • Infrastructure as Code:  Manage and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
  • Monitoring and Alerting:  Design, implement, and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure visibility into the health of our systems.
  • Collaboration:  Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to improve system performance, reliability, and automation.
  • Capacity Planning:  Perform capacity planning, and load testing, and ensure the infrastructure can handle expected load and growth.
  • Security and Compliance:  Ensure systems and infrastructure comply with security policies and best practices. Proactively identify security vulnerabilities and work to mitigate them.
  • Continuous Improvement:  Identify areas for improvement and contribute to refining processes, tools, and best practices for site reliability.


Qualifications:


  • Experience:  3-5+ years of experience in a similar role (e.g., SRE, DevOps Engineer, or Systems Administrator).
  • Technical Skills:  Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration, scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python), and experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Cloud Experience:  Strong experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) and their managed services.
  • Automation Tools:  Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
  • Monitoring and Logging:  Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and logging tools (e.g., ELK stack, Splunk).
  • Networking:  Understanding of networking principles, including DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Problem-Solving:  Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a passion for root cause analysis.
  • Soft Skills:  Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
  • Preferred:  Experience with Kubernetes, containerisation (e.g., Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
