Job Description :                              

As a mechanical Intern at Articulus Surgical, you will be responsible for supporting the design and development of our products by creating and maintaining accurate and detailed CAD models and drawings. You will work closely with our engineering and design teams to ensure that our products meet the highest quality and functionality standards. Your expertise in CAD tools, mechanical concepts, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and tolerance stacks will be vital.


Key Responsibilities :

  • Create 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software (especially Fusion 360).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and designers, to understand product requirements and translate them into detailed CAD designs.
  • Interpret and apply GD&T principles to ensure that components and assemblies meet design specifications and tolerances.
  • Ensure that designs are manufacturable and work closely with suppliers and in-house manufacturing facilities to prototype these components.
  • Assist in the creation of a Bill of Materials (BOM) and materials selection for product components, managing and working with vendors and manufacturers, maintaining a procurement pipeline, etc.


Requirements :

  • BTech / MTech (completed or pursuing) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Design, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with DIY projects in academia / personal projects/company.
  • Experience in the creation of Parts, Assemblies and Drawings in CAD software (Preferably in Fusion360)
  • Knowledge of General dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) and stack-up analysis.
  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing and design for manufacturability – including 3D printing, machining, sheet metallurgy, assembly, etc.
  • Familiarity with mechanical concepts such as machine design, stress and strain, material properties, surface treatment, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail, design aesthetics and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Basic knowledge of working with Microsoft Office and Google Sheets, etc.
  • Cross-domain knowledge – e.g., electronics, software, etc. will be appreciated.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, manage priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
