Job Summary

We are hiring a Java Developer with strong U.S. healthcare experience for a tutoring position focused on teaching Java Spring / Spring Boot to aspiring backend developers.

This is a remote, part-time tutoring role, ideal for professionals who want to share real-world experience from healthcare projects while guiding learners through modern Java development practices.

Role Overview: Tutor & Mentor

This is not a software development position, but rather a tutoring/instructional role. Your primary responsibility will be to mentor and teach students how to build real-world Java backend applications using Spring Boot—drawing from your healthcare domain experience to give them industry-relevant insights.

Key Responsibilities Tutoring / Mentoring:

  • Deliver live or recorded sessions teaching Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
  • Guide students through real-world backend application development projects
  • Help learners understand Java design patterns, REST APIs, Spring Boot features, JPA/Hibernate, and more
  • Offer personalized mentorship, code reviews, and Q&A support
  • Bring U.S. healthcare project scenarios into lessons (FHIR, HL7, EMR/EHR, etc.)

Healthcare Domain Insights:

  • Explain how Java is used in U.S. healthcare systems (insurance, EHR/EMR, claims, HIPAA compliance)
  • Use healthcare-focused examples to contextualize lessons
  • Help students understand enterprise backend architecture in healthcare

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Java backend development
  • At least 1+ year of experience working in U.S. healthcare-related projects
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Spring / Spring Boot
  • Familiar with REST APIs, SQL databases, JPA/Hibernate, Git
  • Prior experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or training developers
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with healthcare standards like HL7, FHIR, or systems like Epic/Cerner
  • Prior work in HIPAA-compliant environments
  • Experience with Swagger, Docker, AWS (a bonus)
  • Exposure to curriculum design or educational content creation
